    not on u turns though
either going completely over or putting two tires up on curb to navigate around something... usual a tourist

drive a dclb and you will need to take a U-turn further out (meaning go straight for a bit more than you would in a car, before initiating the full wheel crank), to make the u turn further in the intersection, or else you won’t clear the curb on the opposite side.

making it a 3-point U-turn, clearly shows you don’t know your vehicle. and right handers, too, you need to not apex that turn, even more in a truck,

my kid got points off on their driving license test (using my DCLB) for Understeering/oversteering. But they didn’t hit no curbs. I’ll bet they would gotten points off for hitting curbs

Sometimes you have to get creative when parking a long bed in a large city that likes to have stupidly small parking spots.

No one will argue that the turn radius on a Tacoma is horrid. Period.

So the driver has to adjust to the vehicle. Instead of like a recent poster who wanted to alter the turn radius.

    Practice.

Find an open lot. Set up some cardboard boxes to be your 'curbs'. Do u turns and park until you get it right.

I can honestly say I've never taken a U-turn that wasn't wide enough to do the u-turn. Seems like what you're describing should just be a 3-point turn.

    Great replies!

I've done it...right rear tire when I clip a curb in a parking lot...not often, but on the rare occasion.

John ELC pretty much nailed it further down: you need to understand the straight, then "cut it" method for getting around tight curbs in the truck. If you start turning too early, or try to turn the truck gradually, you'll just end up closer to the curb and will likely hit it.

On U-turns where there isn't actually enough width, I used to straighten the wheels to deliberately mount the curb instead of scraping the side of the tire (and possible wheel). Haven't had to do that since selling the Taco, though.

Turning out of my street there are a line of trees that if you line up just right, you won't see any traffic until it's about 15 feet bearing down on you. It's a 45mph road that regularly has 60mph, two lanes in both directions.

When I turn out, in attempts to not encroach the far lane but rather stay in the near lane, I'll occasionally put a rear tire up on the curb. I could give a flying fuck.
