In 2019, I switched from the 2016 2.7L for a 2019 3.5 L. About the same gas consumption but the latter is more adapted for long haul on the highway.
For your curiosity, the truck has actually around 70,000 km (43,500 mi) and is used mainly on the highway while travelling, 2 persons onboard, light luggage, not towing anything.
I calculated the gas consumption over many thousand miles, from fill up to fill up. It consistently uses 9.8 to 10 L / 100 km (23.5 to 24 Mpg) of which I am quite satisfied.
I looked up 2025 trucks - Tacoma, Tundra, Ridgeline - and decided to stick with the one on hand since it is running, looking and riding like new. I paid it 38,000 CAD + tx new and its now sells used around 35,000 CAD.
A good deal from my point of view.

I'm seeing about the same MPG when running pure highway.
