I'm excited to see other variants as I think there are a good 11-12 stool kits I've sold so far.

This one is getting a backrest because I'm doing all the welding - the size of the parts would force me to buy boxes which would make the pricing go way up if I included them for shipped orders.

It's for a local TW member.

Well, my 16 gauge cold rolled pricing has gone up a bit!

I like to share current pricing whenever I grab steel.

Allows us to follow if/when it goes up or down depending on current events.

They were out of stock of 3/16" in a 4' x 8' size but that is still listed at $205 and hasn't changed since 2-3 months ago.

Yeah, we've seen some hella big increases in material cost for steel and aluminum (work in an aerospace machine shop).

Makes sense for overseas origin stuff these days, but the domestic suppliers have definitely realized there is money on the table still now too with those current events taking place.

Have you noticed (if you talk to anyone) that pricing seems to be more expensive the farther East you go?

I say this based off receipts and feedback provided in my CNC groups.

Canadians are paying the same as my above invoice, but for half the quantity.

Couldn't say. We buy our stuff from the EU on some specialized stuff, and our distributors are local to us on the more generic domestic stuff.

Google had this to say, which was my theory:

"In general, steel prices on the East Coast of the US tend to be more expensive than on the West Coast. This is due to a combination of factors:
    • Shipping costs: The cost of transporting steel from production centers in the Midwest and South to the East Coast can be higher, especially for long distances or for specialized steel products not readily available on the East Coast.
    • Regional supply and demand imbalances: There may be periods where demand on the East Coast exceeds the regional supply, leading to higher prices."

That makes a lot of sense regarding the first bullet point.

I would've thought the second would apply even more here - my county is very industrial so there's a ton of metal suppliers all within minutes from one another (and minutes from my house). Granted, this means "more supply" but they really only exist due to the constant demand.

Guess I'm just glad I'm not paying as much for the same stuff as the other guy; I'm just a one man shop :anonymous:

    Remainder of the parts cut.

Tomorrow I'll get them all welded up along with bending a set of stiffeners.

Picked up the SWAG offroad tube roller upgrade kit for the harbor freight tube roller. After I bought the kit I realized the pipe threader swag uses for the this kit is on clearance. But I got lucky and found one in driving distance.

the roller on the other hand, closest one is a 3 1/2 hour a drive away, and the local stores had no idea on when or if they will be restocked. Then I had an idea... my dad is driving down at the end of the month with some equipment for the food plant that he found at auction years ago an has been storing it for me. So... I check his local store, and they had it in stock. So now that has been picked up and will be making the trip with him.

So once I get the plasma table up an running again, I can roll the foot rest for the stool that @Kwikvette posted the DXF files for. along with a few other project ideas floating around in my head
