    The real kicker is my township gets a lower homestead exemption rates. Go up the road a bit and it's like a $1000 discount where mine is $260 :annoyed:

    I put mine in the mail last week. There was a homesteader discount on my value of about 15% which means I saved about $355. I did appeal when the county reassessed a few years ago but lost. Recently, I got a letter from some law firm to fight this with the line, "if you don't win, you don't pay!" What they don't say is how much they charge if I win. I wonder if it is more than what I'll save, or equal to what I save?

    Hah, I remember when I bought my house the county looked at the photos online and I got re-assessed by a big margin for having a "finished basement". I really wanted to fight it, but at the time I was converting my carport to a garage and didn't want anyone snooping around :anonymous:

    Those sneaky ba$tards.
    My youngest son bought a house in a neighboring school district, after the sale they immediately took the reassessment to court for full sale price value ! We hired a layer and fought it but probably could of done the same if we represented ourselves. They did use the sales figures but at a certain " common level ratio" percentage, all of Allegheny county is allowed to use this percentage value which is %50.14.

    Did the same when I moved into mine. But they let me demo the basement before the tax increase to stop it
