Is a 6 inch lift worth it?

It's not about just the clearance, but also the downtravel (2" more clearance + 2" more downtravel means that tire can reach down another 4" for traction). It really does make a big difference. Those that have never had would not know though.

Out here drop bracket lifts seem to be reserved for full size trucks with 20's and wafer thin tires. The only truck our local Toyota specialty shop had with a drop bracket was eventually removed and had a jd fab kit put in to replace it. If they were all that and a bag of potato chips why don't we see more being installed?

Because emotions run far too deep about the crossmember? I don't know...
When I got into wheeling, 4-6" lifts were everything... And how well they worked was never once in dispute. But somewhere I guess it was social media that must've changed that, and so apparently everyone needs to conform to that now. However that does not change one bit how well those few extra inches of clearance works in the real world.
I already did the 2.5" lift thing myself... It sucked. So I do not conform.

I can remember also when 4"'-6" lifts were popular. I had one on my 88 Toyota, not very strong. That was 35 years ago. System's have come along way.
From your post it sounds like you have built yourself a very capable rock climber.
2 years ago a group of us from WI drove out to Moab. On some trails we had people surprised that we were there and our vehicles are our daily driver's. We get the same comments at a off road park here in WI. It's mostly Jeep people.
Most of us have coil over lifts, some are stock. The stock group is getting smaller.
I think people should build their trucks for their needs and uses.
This can be a very expensive hobby.:spending:

Holy shit guys - OP has $1000 to spend and you're all giving this guy advice like he's ready to throw $15k at it.

OP get some good tires and run the truck until you really figure out what you want to do with it and save up more money for mods.

77 square miles surrounded by reality.

Tires, Softopper, fully armored, winch, many pinstripes.
Best advice yet. I was shocked at how well I could keep up with my Wisconsin Tacomas group with my only upgrade being a set of Wildpeaks. Hell, I seldom even needed 4 wheel drive to run with the best of them.

No. Want a huge lift, go find a SFA vehicle and lift that. You'll still have issues but not as many as a IFS truck will have.

theres a reason the only brand that will go that high is rough country. their customers arent concerned with ride quality. that being said they dont actually lose downtravel because their shocks are way too long and overextend the hell outa every front end component.

Yes the reason other offroad guys haven't cut their frame is because they were emotionally conformed by social media

This guy is still going at it huh. Keep telling yourself a DB lift is superior and maybe one day your dream will come true.
