My parents had a 1999 Chrysler Concorde they bought new. The UP mirror switch was wired in so that you had the press and hold it in order for the starter to crank. I am pretty certain that modification was done as a part of Lo-Jack installation.

The beauty of this is that you are using an existing switch, nothing for a theif to find. When the mirror adjust selector was in the middle position, pressing the UP mirror switch wouldn’t actually move any mirrors.

My dad had an old 64 impala when I was a kid. He had a kill switch wired underneath the format. So when he got in, he just pressed on it with his foot ..

    Would something like this work?

I am mostly concerned about theft when I park my taco long term and away from home; airport parking, hotel, boat launch...

I'm thinking if i have a "The club" on the wheel (backwards), a tile in the flooring, the fob turned off and the battery switched off, it would be too much hassle for most instances. i can't stop someone from towing it.

Hi, can I ask what relay spot you installed this in? I have a 2020 TRD Pro and wondering if its the same spot. Thanks!

There’s been a bunch of tacomas stolen this past week. I guess they are into swiping overland gear. Curios what product you got and if you had any installation notes. Their website seems pretty bare bones. Any advice would be great. Actually just found it. Thanks.

You just swap out your starter or pump relay under the hood. Could not be easier. Look up where yours is for your model, I am no expert.

A spare keyfob well wrapped from EMF and well hidden, and retaining the original relay, are both good ideas.
While it is a mild nuisance to whip out my belt keychain in the winter and press the button as I approach the truck from side or front (not behind..) it's well worth the peace of mind.

I received helpful personal email responses to my queries from the vendor, and have been very impressed with his service and the product.
Both are rare in my aftermarket dealings.

Bear in mind, the more publicity kill switches receive the less useful they may prove.

I contacted a local alarm company and they quoted $1500 for an iGLA immobilizer. Seems pretty sophisticated but very expensive. https://iglaglobal.com/

Is you’re automatic or manual? Installed mine in the ignition relay, but just read for manuals to use the EFI. Probably switch it around. Mine only started when the button was simultaneously pressed with the ignition. I’m guessing it has to do with the clutch sensor.

A nice solution for this challenge would be to use an inline switch controlled by Bluetooth. Switch remembers its state. Leave it normally closed, then switch it to open with your phone when parking somewhere sketch.

I suppose if that’s all the time, it might become tedious. You’d also want a manual bypass I suppose.

Just a follow up on Mobilistics imobilizer. On the 2019 MT Tacoma the ignition relay would only work with the button simultaneously pressed while turning the ignition. The EFI relay caused it to throw a code P2610. Switched it back to the ignition and it seems like it fried my trucks keyless entry.
    10/10 would not recommend.

So a quick follow. Mobilistics is going to take back my imobilizer and today while getting ready to call the dealership, my fob started working again. Totally strange but I’ll take it.

Old thread but checking to see if this is a one off or if anyone had similar experience with this and a MT 3rd Gen (2023). Looking to add a kill switch and not wanting to splice any wires if I don't need to.

    @Mr. Excitement

Also looking at the 4122 kill switch as another option.

    Anyone have any other suggestions?

Meso spare fuse holder. Aluminum gas cap holder. Genuine Toyota bed lights. Bed molle racks. Ammo case storage under hood. In-bed spare tire. Automatic underhood lights. Gooey glurp on frame.
I installed something very much like this on a different brand pickup truck. It works in conjunction with two other kill switches. It uses a magnetic reed switch, a relay, and of course a random magnet I keep on the center console tray. To start the engine, the ignition has to be on and the magnet has to be touched to a special place. I installed a bypass dongle under the hood. It plugs into a hanging plug of the sort the factory leaves hanging in almost every vehicle, for an option I didn't buy. I found the plans and component list on a Jeep Wrangler forum. In accord with Murphy's law, I can't find the wiring diagram, nor can I find the URL again. Sorry.

Likewise, my kill switch is three things that have to happen too. Of which I will not divulge.
