I have also seen this happen on a hino due to a fan clutch that went bad, put the fan off center/out of balance and wiggled the water pump shaft to death. And I didn't realize the fan chopped holes in the rad until after I put a new water pump on and got everything reassembled. Looking at your pic it seems like the fan clutch may have failed in a similar way, and that oil you see could be the viscous fluid from inside there?

    Yikes!!

Some people are re-badging Teslas to make them look like Audis... Are you sure yours is not a re-badged F-150?

But maybe the third time is the charm??? It is freshly painted after all...

You cannot have that much bad joojoo for another failure... (is that how it is spelled?)

Please don’t read this as victim blaming.

    What aren’t you telling us?

I have driven a lot of vehicles a lot of hours like it used to be part of my job. I have never had a single catastrophic failure let alone 3 on the same vehicle. I’m not saying it didn’t happen I just can’t understand how there was no sign beforehand on this fan failure?

Third motor hasn’t been the charm for me. Hopefully I don’t need a 4th. Was planning on giving this truck to my son. He’s about to turn 16..

I don’t haul fat chicks. Just bad engineering / design, assembly, install, then shit techs and apparently overall bad luck. Good luck to all y’all..

The design of water pump and clutch fan shared with previous generation of v6 engines.
I would lean towards a bad install and faulty parts

Well, there are like 1M+ 3rd gen V6s out there so, still a low number. It is very sad to see happen because we all know how much we love our Tacos. I cant imagine having to replace 2 engines on 5 year old truck, crazy

The oil is just the viscous silicone oil that is inside the fan clutch. Replace the fan clutch and don't worry about the oil outside of degreasing everything.

Wonder if that clutch had been in a T/A and slightly damaged but wasn't visible.

What logic you using? Do you think I caused the head gasket to fail and vapor locked my motor? Do you think I did something that caused my water pump to explode. I’d love to hear your logic..

Sorry for your ongoing troubles OP. The issue is not the truck, it is just plain old bad fucking luck with three different motors. OP is turning out to be the Schleprock of TW

The crazy thing here is that the belt routing puts minimal stress on the fan / pump. That is just some wildly shitty luck.

Yep what really made a mess was that super fast spinning fan going on an adventure in my engine compartment. First assessment was need a whole new cooling system. Pump radiator reservoir, hoses etc. the Toyota place cant asses additional damage till coolant system is fixed (for $5,140) so they can run it and see.. they’re gonna send me a breakout because that sounds kinda high for the cooling system.. but we’ll see..

also, trying a long shot by calling my auto insurance to see if they cover anything but not lookin good

Might end up doing it myself to save some $$

I cannot give you a Like there. FML.

Feeling the stiffness of the fan and how far it necks out there, it is a good thing that it was contained and didn't visit your hood.

That does seem high, but the dealer book is a lot thicker than an indy.

5k sounds like a go away price

I don't blame them, they don't want to touch that haunted POS.

    Sorry op
