*Riding on 285/70/17. Also have a 2 inch leveling kit

Recently went in for an alignment and they said my camber bolts were bent and needed replacing. They suggested specialty products camber bolt kits. After some searching I found there are other camber bolt kits for off roading that have the octagon shaped tabs. I’m a very casual off roader. Maybe 2-3 times a year. Mostly drive to work. Knowing my tire size and leveling kit, do I need off road camber bolt kits or are the specialty products kit sufficient? Any suggestions or advice is welcomed.

I do plan to upgrade suspension to the bilstein 5100 in about 20-30k miles. Currently at 90k miles on the odo.

    TIA

If your bolts are bent (not sure how you could bend them if you casually off-road) then any kind of replacement is better than nothing. I got a kit like the one you are talking about. https://bisonoffroad.com/product/le...-tacoma-16-22-4runner-2010-2023-stop-cam-kit/

I also had the alignment tabs done but I do more than than casual. The octagonal tabs will also help limit your needs for alignments.

Basic ones are slightly cheaper though. https://freedomoffroadusa.com/oem-replacement-cam-bolts-fo-t300fc/

    Get OEM bolts.

It's unlikely they are bent. Probably siezed, which is very very common.

I am not a fan of the SPC bolts, or any aftermarket bolt.

Typically you can get away with replacing only the sleeve on one end, and the bolt on the other if they are siezed.

If yours are actually bent, WTF.

If they are seized then you need lower control arms too. I have never seen a bent cam bolt, they might be saying it bc its seized and they cant turn it thinking that its bent.

Cam bolts, OEM is best and you might only need some of the parts for it, Superpro are a really good set too (3rd gen is the same as a 5th gen 4runner), then SPC are ok. There really isn't any other brand that I would recommend. Have the installer lather them up in anti-seize when reinstalling them.

The reason that OEM is best is bc shops are a little less likely to bend your alignment tabs.

SPC's if you try and loosen them with an impact quickly, they can spin the whole cam plate and it might bend the alignment tab. 4x4 shops are generally more careful with it, but the chain stores are really bad for messing up the tabs and then covering up their work by taking a punch and bending the tabs back. But once they bend they are pretty weak afterwards.

The octagon plates will not dial in the alignment super well unless you have adjustable upper arms. They are more for hardcore offroaders who are ok with sacrificing some of the alignment so that they don't have to re-align it more often.

Its also a good idea to retorque your camber and caster bolts yourself, shops often times don't put it to the correct torque, and will assume that the 2nd gen tacoma is the same as the 3rd gen.

×2, it's more likely your cam tabs that are bent.
If the tabs are still in place (not completely broke off), having a shop put a weld bead behind them will strengthen them back up (and then some).

    Agreed, OEM for the bolts.
