Yes it's the same filter from everything I've seen. I don't think the engine is radically different, if at all, from the standard 2.4 to the hybrid version. I think it's the same filter Toyota uses on damn near everything :)

Just for reference, I've been using the larger 90915-YZZFI oil filter without any issues. It fits fine.

I 3d printed one from a file I found on Thingiverse that screws in. They sell Toyota-specific funnels.

Whether a person drives low miles or high miles, do it yourself and change the oil during the spring, summer or fall.

IMG_3263.jpg use 1qt mobile 1 empty bottle as a funnel, it'll thread on like a glove in the oil fill hole, did my second oil change at 5k couple of days ago, if I haven't mention yet, you gotta cut off the bottom of the bottle.

FV as in Fumoto valve? When it's colder than hell in the middle of Idaho, I took my third-gen with a Fumoto to the local oil-change shop, and they didn't blink. The engine is warm, and so is the oil. This little company sets up appointments so the vehicles don't sit for hours.

Changed oil yesterday, Used Pen UP 5w-30. Gotta say it made a huge difference! Engine is far quieter! Should have done it a long time ago.

OM calls for 0W-20 only. 5W-30 I'm sure is fine, but I'm not willing to risk my warranty over it. Why give Toyota rope to hang yourself with, God forbid you have an engine warranty issue?

Didn’t notice a difference with my Tundra 5.7 when I switched to 5w-30. But if it changes I’ll let ya know.

I didn't say it wasn't safe - I'm sure 5W-30 is fine. I said it's not what Toyota says to use in the OM. So if you have an engine warranty claim, it's something Toyota could potentially use against you since you ignored the specifications laid out in the OM. I'm not willing to take that chance, but the risk tolerance is up to each owner.

Do you think Toyota is going to test the oil in your engine to deny a claim? And even if they did, the results of a used oil analysis couldn’t differentiate that tightly.

Nevermind the fact that the exact same engine in other countries allow for higher viscosity oils. Is something so different in Juarez that people in El Paso can’t use the same oil?

No but they will probably ask for oil change receipts. It doesn't matter what they spec in other parts of the world and 5W-30 is probably perfectly fine. But it's not what they specify in the US owner's manual. As stated before, I'm not willing to risk my warranty by running out of spec oil as far as Toyota USA is concerned. What everyone else does is their business :)

They’ll ask for records, and I’ll just show them a list of dates and mileage. They won’t ask for a Costco receipt for the oil itself
