    Came a whole day early!

Was stoked as hell so as soon as the wife arrived, I got to work.

I must've tossed my template for the backrest though which sucks. Just means I'll have to draw another.

Gives me an excuse to load up some 16 gauge on the table as I just bought a whole bunch for your request and a few others.

I got home from work a little earlier today so I set my shop back up and got the barstool side templates cut and shaped.

Headed to the pool. It is 104* here today.

Long day in the heat. Two on the left are glued up. The two on the right still need joinery and glue.

The fish are red oak and the slab under the fish is cedar. All were shaped with an angle grinder and a flap disc. The table however, required lots of tooling. The table Is made of red oak also. Some of my tools are very old. Hand me down from grand parents or things I've found on various market place type sales. Tools from the 1950's. They're not as nice as new stuff but the old guys made beautiful furniture with the old tools. The old tools are usually not my limitation. We have a great woodworking club in Houston. Check your area.

Well I’d like to say I’ve made some excellent progress. I put at least another 15 hours into this thing. I’m not sure it looks much different and I’m not sure I’m halfway done yet. Got three coats of lacquer on it today and started laminating shelves and what not. I’m really excited about the aluminum extrusion that takes dovetail clamps that I’ll be putting on the sides.IMG_3236.jpg

    Today’s Stool Samples

I got the other two sides for the second stool glued up. The first pair is sanded and I have cut the parts for the seat and back rest. That’s all for this weekend.

Ready for a seat and back rest.

I wish that I had a proper work bench / assembly table to work on. I will be inheriting a Sjoberg bench from my FIL at some point so I keep using a pice of melamine on saw horses.

Granted the wood work done on my end was absolutely minimal (drilling holes and hammering t-nuts), it should still count!

Anyway, she's done (as far as my end goes).

IMG_3243.jpg Finally getting to a point where I can demonstrate the method to my madness, Didn’t have a lot of time to work on it tonight, but I was very excited about getting the aluminum extrusion on and fitted. There will be a pair of these on both sides. This one is in the middle position and one will go up above it and be even with the surface of the top

Looking good! Those extra clamping options should be very useful in the future.

I think that I used the same poplar legs, I bought from HD, on my kitchen island that I built back in 2020. I also bought the butcher block top from Lowe’s.

Yeah I milled my own legs out of Poplar trying to save a little money, but I wish I had gone hard maple. They’re already getting dinged up and I haven’t used it yet. Also wish I would’ve known that I could find some popular legs already made that would’ve been nice. That island Looks nice. Great job.

Thanks, it is held together with a ton of pocket hole screws, but is still going strong. The legs are much darker now and full of dents and dings.
