My friend cracked his rear nextr wheel yesterday on the KRR but didn't puncture the tire. Them bois are solid.

The MM gravity radials have been feeling great for me. Running them at 27/29 , haven't even heard a ping yet and still got all the grip. The rear isn't looking like it's going to last that long though. I hope they drop a rear specific radial soon like big betty, or at least a soft compound in 29. Otherwise I would probably consider going to a TC super dh or the Contis. At $110 each we did a full circle back to Maxxis prices at this point.. :censored:

    Damn, that's impressive!
How much you weigh? Curious how high in pressure those radials should be running. I added 3, but I was riding the Trail in the front, which I knew after a few rides wasn't going to cut it. Just rolled a bit too much, felt vague when really loading it up.
Since I couldn't find a MM radial, I got an Assegai DD in MaxxGrip. Kinda curious to test them back-to-back. I've always liked that tire/casing/compound, so it'll be interesting to compare. When the MM radials come back, I'll get another set in Gavity Pro/SS, throw the Assegai on the Eeebs.

I'm 200ish geared up. I've been running the trail radials 26/28 on the Druid. I'll still get a ping here and there when hammering but no flats so far. I do think the rim has a lot to do with it. I have a set of Enves that seem to ping all the time where others don't. (Dt swiss, stans) Coincidentally those enve wheels are also extremely hard to put tires on so maybe they're a taller rim profile.

Could be the profile but also the width? My nobl tr37s never ping with exo+ where the bontragers line elite carbon with exo and a lot less with DH and stans flow s1 (aluminum) with exo+ ping a lot more at around the same pressure. Not sure if it’s just bias or the nobls are actually that good haha

Ok fellow taco cyclist. My neighbors kid is turning 12 and wants a bike. He knows how to ride but hasn’t had his own bike. I’m thinking a very cheap HT like a Trek Marlin, Spesh Rockhopper or Cannondale trail. I’ve seen the Walmart Ozark bike reviews but mechanical disc brakes on it suck. They are not the type of family to replace them or do anything more then ride it until it needs maintenance.

All my wheels are 30mm internal but those do have have super fat beads so the external width is wider.

Didn’t think of external having as much impact. I think all of mine are 29-31 internal but not sure on external. I was also wondering how much hookless beads play? I don’t think it’s as much with pinging though, right?

    That's key. Wide, not sharp.
The one wheel I've never gotten a pinch flat on (with reasonable pressures) was the Zipp Moto3. I think that pivoting motion gave just enough, combined with decent sidewalls, to prevent it. I'm really liking the WA1 convergence wheels, but the Zipps are really impressive. I don't think heavier aggressive riders would get along with them though, they do have some flex in super high-g lateral loads, but man do they track off-camber weird shit well.

Won't lie. Those Walmart bikes of today are way better than i expected them to be. They're still cheap Walmart bikes but they're not the Walmart bikes of the 2005-10 era.

Any gravel grinders around? Considering a Vaast A1 from the LBS. The purpose of this bike will be for commuting around town/to beach/to work and also hitting some fire roads and light trails with the occasional road ride. The frame is made out of a magnesium alloy which is interesting. It claims to make the bike more dampened and comfortable while riding? Shop only had a small on display, should have the large built in a day or two to test ride. Right now im riding a Specialized allez e5 which is okay but there's way more to be desired...

Any input would be appreciated for this bike or other gravel bikes under the 1500 range. (which isnt many...)

I love my Poseidon Redwood. The new Ambition gen 3 is out and under $1,500. Might be worth a look.
