Hope everyone is doing good. So I want to put a bed mounted spare tire bracket in my 2001 Tacoma SR5 extended cab. I want to take the tire and mount it in the picture I uploaded to this thread. The spare tire is a P265/70R16. Does anyone know a really good one. Appreciate the help guys.

Really a hard job to figure just you want pointing at the inside of your bed!
You want to fabricate a mount to attach your spare tire to the side of your bed??
Figure out what you want and have it built.

Are you looking for a mount to buy or ideas on how to build one? I don't know of any off the shelf mounts to do that. You can probably find a generic one and make it work. One for a trailer might even work with some modification and willingness to drill into your bed.

Something like this. Use the plates to sandwich the bed sheet metal

As stated, you'll need to DIY it all.

Couple years ago, a member wanted something done and he happened to be local. I had just started welding and just started doing CNC but here's what he had me do.

The mount was bolted onto the factory rail (2nd Gen) that he was going to either reinforce or replace? But the mount just held the tire against the bed and supported none of the actual weight.

I'd get rid of that bed liner 1st. All they do is hide rust from a previous owner or trap water to promote rust.

You can't attach anything to the plastic anyways and it just gets in the way of proper fabrication.

    Wrong

I’ve had a dozen trucks. Half had the oem plastic or aftermarket liner in the bed. Paint was scuffed under, but never any rust.

That doesn't even make sense. Clearly they can trap moisure, and have no provisions for drainage.
I've seen plenty of beds rotted thru and they had bed liners in them.
Better to just get a spray in liner.

I guess it depends where you live.
1st gens had all steel beds.
My frame was toast before anything under the bed liner.
