I used to use a rubber hose to start spark.plugs on air-cooled VW's as the space was quite tight to reach into.

You're as old as me (maybe).
I had a British import as a 1st car and did the same thing.
    Cheers

I would be more worried about the sparkplugs having a level of consciousness all their own and being able to make decisions about how they are going to fire and in what order or if they talk amongst one another and decide they are all going to foul out because they are upset that i was too rough with them when putting them in. I mean a situation like that can really mess your day up.

I personally prefer rubber inside spark plug sockets for the protection against cracking of them.

My tip with them is to shoot some silicone spray inside first before the job to prevent the rubber/socket staying on the plug

I have a Mac Tools set but I believe they're just a standard 5/8"(16mm) hex plug. I'd just run to the store and get a spark plug socket you like the name of.

I also like changing my plugs with a locking extension. Lexivon and Vevor tend to be decent for diy purposes from Amazon. For store bought, I would go Harbour Freight/Princess auto

I think it is a good idea to break the plug loose a couple of turns and then use compressed air to blow around the plug. This keeps debris from entering the cylinder when the plug is removed. There could be sand, dirt, grit around the plug. Especially in the taco, just look at the design of the hole where the plug is, all kinds of crap could be down in there. I’ve always done this on all my rides.

    Working now a list
I use a rubber one to break loose and switch to magnetic to remove.

I have a few with built in swivel that are nice.

Check the MAC, Snap-on and Matco websites.

That brings this back to my original post using a swivel spark plug remover. It would wiggle around and hard to line up the threads.

Not an issue with the one I linked. IDK why you guys are overthinking this so hard.

    correct.
Swivel actually makes it easier to line up and thread correctly.
It's usually better and easier to line up any threaded material with the material (spark plug) in the socket with swivel and any necessary extensions. Line up by hand and start threads. Then attack socket wrench and tighten. Works on most things even lug nuts. No cross threading.
