Hope the title isn't too click baity but I feel like I dodged a bullet. Took my truck in to get the drive line checked and refreshed and as soon as the drive line mechanic started the truck it sprung this oil leak. Wasn't leaking before arriving at the shop and for some amazing miracle just started when he started it, or very shortly before. Feeling VERY lucky this didn't happen on the road or any where else.

He replaced the hose and clamp and will "remove and replace the driveline and recondition including 3 universal joints and center support."

    Again PHEW...

Mechanic thought that clamp was the culprit.

    minor tweaks
I wouldn't be surprised if it was caused by the clamp, worm type hose clamps are mostly garbage IMO, they tend to chew up hose material, esp smaller hoses. THey are handy for emergency repairs.

The ones with the slotted holes kinda suck.

I like ABA hose clamps for when I want something good.

For if I don’t have a replacement, I’ll put a little lube on the gear & grooves. Sometimes they still strip.

Talked to the mechanic who did the work, turns out it was a line to the transmission cooler.
