    Hello.

I am considering a purchase of a 2020 Tacoma TRD offroad, 60k miles.
    Looking for any advice ?
I am torn, and want to make a good decison!
Pulling a trailer all over to travel nurse assignments, and need something reliable.

Currently in a 1st gen with 230k I love, but I want to "preserve" it and not use of pulling trailer all over.

    Thank you!
    K

Specs on trailer to start with.
The Tacoma is not strong in the towing department,,, well not trailers with a larger surface area than the truck itself and not when approaching MAX (or half IMO). If it is a lightly loaded low pro popup, or a utility trailer, you will be fine.
Another consideration is the part of the country you will be. Trying to keep time going through the mountains is much different than being retired and towing flat back roads. Since you are a traveling nurse, I would think you would be expected to be anywhere on time.

I absolutely love my 3rd gen, lots of long haul highway miles on it with zero issues but I don’t tow. I think what Chew said is right and we would need more info on what you’re towing.

Sounds like a good bit of towing. As much as I hate to be that guy, you need a full size of sorts. I'd like to recommend a 2ng gen V8 Tundra, but that thing will absolutely kill you on fuel savings over one of the big 3.

I agree with this as well.

The wife and I want to tow a camper around but I decided to wait until my 3rd gen has moon miles on it and then I’ll probably get a Cummins or Super Duty for that job. Keep the 3rd gen as a trail rig.

If the OP’s trailer in question is small then I’m sure it would be just fine.

Look, the 3rd Gen can certainly tow so don't let folks here scare you off just for that. But it really does come down to how heavy the stuff you are towing is. A small trailer full of Depends diapers is probably fine. A trailer full of steel oxygen cylinders maybe not!

Have an old girlfriend that was a traveling nurse; very well paid. Her "assignments" were usually a minimum of two weeks to two months and sometimes longer and often got extended well beyond the original time frame. She stayed in temporary housing for her jobs, often the housing was included in the contract, or so I believe. If your assignments are the same I would not say you are towing all over the place, but intermittently towing, which the Tacoma would be OK with if the weight is not too high. Plus brakes on the trailer, adequate tow mirrors, etc. all the normal stuff for towing.

As others have stated specifics of your current setup are needed.

If you are heavy and are indeed towing all over on a daily or weekly basis look at another truck, not a Tacoma. But then you have other experiences with your current setup that contradicts that advice.

From your past posts it looks like you will be staying with a Tacoma, as you have had multiple trucks.

As for reliability - I've had my 2017 since Sept 2016 and have put over 100k miles on it.

Only issue was the powered tailgate lock started getting intermittent a couple years ago. Took me a few minutes to open up the tailgate to clean & lube the mechanism and it's been fine since.

Otherwise nothing but consumables and regular scheduled maintenance.

I guess it comes down to how much your towing, before considering needing a V8. The Off Road does tow 6800 lbs, but that's idea conditions only, I wouldn't recommend towing that much in the mountains.

    Good luck Kerri
