May be a long shot, (and late) but I have a 1998 Volvo that wouldn't start after sitting for a short time. After many trial-and-errors swapping parts, it turned out to be the crank position sensor. It sat on the back of the engine and would get heat-soaked and quit, but only after a shutdown: Drive to the store or little-league and when you came back: crank-no-start. One of the last things tried/swapped because it was on the back of the transverse mounted 5-cyl near the turbo and all of the inter-cooler plumbing. A nightmare to access and you couldn't really see it. Had to do it by feel. We still have the car (260,000 on it now :proposetoast:) and still carry a spare but have never needed it. Go figure.
