Mannnnn... I'm glad there are other people out there like this. We hear so often from the bitter that we often wonder what the hell people are doing to make their world so miserable. But this is great. Thanks @Tacogent and @Radd for posting...

Why would I rotate for no reason? If they are wearing well, and evenly, then why rotate? Ohhhhh... because it's recommended by people that inspect your vehicle so they can sell you something. THAT... is a great reason.

Regarding rotations, for me it has been exceedingly dependent upon the vehicle in question.
    • For my FWD cars, especially those with wider performance oriented tires, I've experienced tire cupping when tires are left on the rear end too long, and extremely fast wear on the front tires. For these cars I typically did a 15,000 mile rotation, and this proved to be optimal.
    • For my RWD Sport Package equipped (i.e. "soft" summer rubber) BMWs, yeah, 7,500 was almost too long of an interval for rotations.
    • My Tacoma is my first truck, and given the maintenance plan which came with it provided for a "free" rotation every 5,000 miles, I took advantage of that.
Once I have the new Michelin's mounted, I'll probably gravitate to every ten- or fifteen-thousand miles for a rotation schedule.

Tire rotation is a pita. Remapping the sensors. Anyways

Well that's another thing. I found the best way to deal with tire pressure is to look at my tires occasionally and fill them if they look low. Kind of like I did before I had sensors. I probably fill tires twice a year because I actually check them before we drive to Reno or Deadwood... spring and fall. They might need three to five pounds. I found a sticker to put over the light on the dash.
It occurs to me that some people might see this as unusual... but I see people being anal about these things as being (from google) “anal retentive personality,” a personality marked by excessive orderliness, extreme meticulousness, and often suspicion and reserve.

My blood pressure is 120- over 60...

Isn't it a little bit strange that people can brag about how attentive they are to their "things"... and everyone approves and thinks well of them... but if someone questions the practices as unnecessary that person might be seen as... (fill in the blank)

I have offroad tires, I rotate at every 5k mi oil change. I don't enjoy paying for that, but it is what it is. I love the tires. If you buy your tires from Rack - depending on what tire place puts em on, some tire places that are associated with Rack, will give you free lifetime rotations on that set of tires you had installed.

I *think* at some point Sams Club also offered free rotations for tires you purchase there.

Some will argue that preventive maintenance is a waste of time, but in my experience when I've followed it to the T, I've had cars and vehicles that run forever.

My Honda, I purchased at 77k in 2011, drove it for 8 years, sold it with 277K for $4k - paid $10k for it. I mistakenly bought an extended warranty - and never needed it. It's a Honda. But when you can show the buyer of your used vehicle a binder like this, with all of your maintenance receipts, it allows you to hold firm on selling price.

My Honda pissed me off, I had to put gas in it and change the oil.

Best deal I ever did was the KIA stinger. Bought it for 24k. Modded. It pretty well. Burnt out a piston head. Sold it for. 28 k as is. I had it for 4 years

I wear their work pants everyday. Best pants I've ever owned. $40 from Home Depot.
