    Hello All!

    A little background:
I am a Salesman at Toyota of Pullman, and I was driving a 1991 Toyota TownAce Super Extra - it was a Japanese Import, right hand drive manual diesel van. I loved the darn thing, but man she sure struggles going 60mph. My second day as a salesman, still in training, a dealership-only serviced original owner traded in what is now my 2003 Single Cab Manual Tacoma. I love my new (to me) Taco with a passion, and working around brand new Toyotas day in and out, gives me the urge to spice up my 22 year old Toyota a bit... I will also be shipping out for the Air Force here in a few months, and before I ship I would like to spend some time back home in AZ before Uncle Sam owns my ass. With that, I might enjoy having Cruise Control for my 20+ hour drive from Pullman WA to Phoenix AZ.

I have already beefed up my sound system, putting in a XAV-6000 Sony Head-unit, a full set of JBL Stadium 862CF woofers and tweeters, and finally a JBL BassPro SL2 Subwoofer under the driver seat. Furthermore I slapped on some new rubber - Falken Wildpeak AT4/Ws.

    The Dilemma:
My finances set me a ways away from doing a full suspension kit (which I will absolutely get to at some point) but for now I am OBSESSED with throwing in OEM cruise control. Being a Toyota employee, you would think that I have access to all the parts and schematics I could ever ream of at my fingertips. Unfortunately, that is not the reality and my parts guy thinks I am a moron for even attempting this.

Here is where I am at:
My VIN is as follows - 5TEPM62N63Z156014. To the best of my understanding, the first generation Tacoma comes in three trim levels - Base, SR5, and Pre-Runner with a combined 16 different configurations or something like that... I have a Base, with the 2.7L 5 Speed Manual, and 4WD. Working at a dealership, I have found a PERFECT donor vehicle. The VIN is as follows: 5TEWM72N22Z117808. This Tacoma is a 2002 SR5, with my identical 2.7L 5 Speed Manual w/4WD. This "donor" has everything I want for MY Tacoma.

What I have purchased and what I hope to get out of this Thread:
I have purchased an entire steering column that belongs to an SR5. This steering column has the cruise control switch, intermittent windshield wipers, and a tilt wheel - all of which are things my current steering column do NOT have. My biggest concern and obstacle is sourcing the correct parts. I need the Actuator, CC ECU Module, Clutch Switch, and Brake Switch. I have found part numbers, but the big problem is finding the specific numbers for my powertrain components. I am also concerned about needing a new wiring harness, but I hope that the steering column I purchased will have the support for my cruise components.

If you all could work your magic and find me exact part numbers for this project, and anything else I may need or need to know I would be eternally grateful. I have searched this forum countless times for someone who tried to put in OEM cruise, but I can only find the Rostra stuff... My parts guy says that I am beating a dead horse because my ECM may not be able to recognize any of the cruise control components that I add, but I say to hell with him. I have looked into the Rostra universal CC system, but man I just really feel like aftermarket "stuff" is just jankey. I am a HUGE advocate for OEM+ modifications. If it does not look and operate like stock, I don't want it. Thanks again everyone!

You're going to want a factory service manual and electrical schematic for both years. If you can't sweet-talk your service or parts staff into helping you with that, you can buy them on eBay, or possibly find someone here on the forum who can share a digital copy with you. Comparing schematics will be the best way to tell what's different. All the parts will likely bolt up (physically), but the wiring might be more challenging.

Since you have VINs for both trucks, you can also use sites like toyodiy.com or partsouq.com to look up parts. They won't tell you every part that you need, but they'll help you find part numbers and cross-reference to see if they're the same for both model years.

Both your truck and the donor are 3RZ trucks, so it sounds like you've already avoided this problem, but FYI 2003/2004 5VZ trucks used an electronic throttle (vs cable on earlier trucks and 3RZ trucks), so many cruise control components from a 2003/2004 5VZ truck would likely not work in an earlier truck.
