Hey @RustyGreen , how’s your water with the new pump?

I know it’s a different situation but my coworker needed a new well and it took over a month for her to get down to only cleaning her filter a couple times a day.

    Working good!

The well man put some chlorine tablets in there, he said the it would break down the iron oxide accumulation.

Man alive was he right, we put a hose right off the tank to outdoors and that water came out black. :puke:

I flushed it/let it rest probably a half dozen times and the water was back to clear.

We are fortunate to have very good water, all I have is a basic filter.

The well is 114 feet deep.

We had to have our 40 year old pump replaced this spring. Water clarity was good almost immediately, but it took more than 2 weeks for the chlorine smell to go away.

Pump was 250' down, but he said the records he found looked like the well itself was over 500' deep -- not all that unusual for this area.

Cost us $2300 for the 3/4hp pump, wire, and labor. Took 2 guys about 2 hours to replace it. Fortunately the plastic pipe was still good.
Previous installer had used UF rated cable, which apparently is not correct for well application, so I've got about 250' of 12-2 UF cable I'll use when I get around to running more outlets & lights in my garage.
