I think brands have things they are good, and things they are not good at. I've always had good luck with Samsung TVs, granted I prefer Sony to Samsung.

I would think if buying appliances, stick with the appliance brands. I don't know, whirpool?

I have a dishwasher and never use it. I am the only one making dishses so it probably doesn't make sense to use it.

The real problem with appliances is getting repair men - Mike Rowe was talking about how it took 3 weeks to get a fridge repair guy out to his house. And he's rich. Point being, we just don't have enough people in the field of repair for these things and it encourages this landfilling thing.

I won't ever say I'm Mr. Green but I cringe when I have to toss electronics or appliances into the landfill. It's similar to the car companies doing planned obselence in the 70s intentionally.

We went shopping for a dishwasher with a tight budget, because I figured a dishwasher is a dishwasher is a dishwasher... The guy at Home Depot showed us the budget units and I wasn't impressed, and was ready to walk out. But he says sometimes the store gets returns that they discount and they might have one. It's a $700 Maytag for half price and I figured I'd bite and see if a more expensive washer was really worth it. I gotta say, it's been good for us. When and if we need a new dishwasher I'm probably gonna spend more money.

We’ve had good luck with Bosch Dishwashers for 20 years. So the Whirlpool that came with this house went out, we buy a Bosch and 2 year later the top rack is rusting like a 1970 Datsun

Mark Twain's advice on the occasion of his 70th birthday... President Roosevelt was unable to attend, but sent him a message.
Dr. Michael Salla hosted a presentation by George Kavassilas recently, who said that his response to those offering him "Love and Light" is "Love, Liberation, and Fortitude."

My uncle in Denver recently emailed that Jim Thorpe, PA returned to the original name. I dunno, but thanks to all those posting photos of Mauch Chunk, PA and environs.

My latest "new tech" was delivered by UPS yesterday. Since April 23, I'd been waiting for a new Yamaha 4-stroke 2.5 hp short shaft outboard engine. After being told July 10, "It's unavailable," I found one out of Chippewa Falls, WI and purchased it immediately via eBay Motors. I didn't mind waiting another week or two for the dealer to get another, and in two weeks, I signed and returned the Certificate of Origin. Hoping to intercept the UPS driver to offload at my ground floor garage bay to the back of the Tacoma, I didn't hear the truck, and he delivered it to my second floor front door, schlepping the carton up the narrow stairs. A few minutes later, I was in the breezeway, unwinding the plastic wrap to find at the bottom, engine oil soaking the cardboard. Yeah, he carried it with the heavy end down... Oops! This morning, to my local marina for supplies to take care of the first two oil changes, pick up a gallon of non-ethanol gas for this engine, and spent the rest of the morning wiping out the inside of the cowling and other sections, added about half a tank of engine oil, and it should be good to go. This new engine was built in 2022, and this model's production began in 2016 (latest TSB is for 2024 SNs, mainly changing a decal). My daughter asked if the marina was going to install the outboard... No, we always remove the engine from the 1962 Grumman Sportcanoe before travel... (Weighs about the same as the 1970 Evinrude 4 Yacht twin, not counting the 3-gallon external tank)
This afternoon, keeping grandkids occupied for an hour or more, then we're all going up the North Fork Coeur d'Alene River to look at a getaway place on 3 acres. Outrageous real estate prices still...
    Go Mariners!

I didn't even know Bosch made dishwashers or appliances for that matter............ whoa.

You would think with all the technological advances we'd be making more reliable appliances.....but I digress. Companies have to company. And I don't say that as a shot at corporations, I'm not anti corporation just making a statement.

Water was nice, lots of cormorants, otters, seals, pelicans and a bunch of other birds. Not another person out there today. As expected, by the time I got home to rinse all the gear the sun came out.

Nope, not yet although there have been various attempts to do so. When they buried Jim Thorpe there, and then changed the name of the town, it was all meant to attract tourism to the memorial which never lived up to their expectations.

Did not know you could go up on the Sombrero. I have been traveling on I95 for far too long. When I was stationed down south I95 was not fully completed in the Carolinas. As a result if there is a problem on I95 I know Rt301 will get me there.

I have had Samsung phones since the S3. I am a Sony guy for TV's but I admit Samsung TV's are decent.

I have had Sony TV's since the 70's. I have only had 1 fail on me, power supply, and Sony replaced it free of charge. The TV was out of warranty. The replacement is in the multi purpose room downstairs. I have a top of the line 2019 Sony in the living room. Still a great TV even though the processor is now 2 generatio n s old.

    Nice.

Good morning. Tech has its place in home appliances. Not a big fan of it in laundry machines but it is nice to turn up the heat or turn down the HVAC system when you are two hours from home.

Headed out to a Baysox game tonight.

    @95SLE

Yes sir you can go up in the sombrero at South of the Border - They were fixing the elevator a while back but its now working again. The view is pretty good. Sunset would be an ideal time to go up there. Up top people have taken Sharpie markers and have littered the interior walls of the sombrero with their names, where they are from etc.

Now with Buccee’s just down the road - I have a feeling many won’t be making 2 stops on long trips - Rather just stopping at Buccee’s for brisket sandwiches and all the other amazing things.

It will be interesting to see if Buccee’s economically impacts South of the Border.
