I'm getting code P0136 and want to test the downstream O2 sensor but having trouble removing it and don't want to break 30 year old plastic. It looks like there is a tab I need to press with a screwdriver on the right side of this photo - is that correct? And if so do I push the tab in towards the middle of the connector, or towards the outside?

But yes, the clip is what holds the pigtail together

Thanks, do I press the clip towards the outside of the connector? I can't tell if the clip is on the O2 sensor side of the connector.

IIRC, the push tab/clip is on the body harness side. You pressed it in to lift the tab up from the latch. The latch is on the sensor pigtail side. A little elbow grease (wiggle) while holding both connector should do it.

CAREFULLY slide a THIN small flat blade screw driver between the connector at the arrow in the picture below.
Then pull out on the connector.

There is actually a button you press on the back of the connector that "pivots" and releases the clip.
But once they get old, they get hard and don't pivot too good.
