We have had a RAINY summer in NC.

Accuweather was predicting 6 hurricanes this season with 3 being strong. I hope they are wrong.

 

Breakfast cooked ,aspirin eaten. Laundry duties a plenty.

 

I think I'm going to try something different today... We are finally getting duck eggs and they don't soft-boil very well. The egg is fine, but the shell is so tough that they are hard to split in half and peel.
So I'm gonna try to learn how to poach an egg. I think that might work well with a duck egg.

 

Whatever you do. Don’t ask the duck.

 

since i'm lo-carbing, I am eating a fair amount of boiled eggs. we have a lot of cute girls in my office so i need to work on some things.

the tricks i've learned for easy to peel boiled eggs:

fill your pan, put the eggs in the cool water right away so their temperature rises with the water.
set your burner to HI.
when it gets to a full boil, dial it down to a soft boil.
set a timer for exactly 10 minutes.
have your ice water ready already.
at 10 minutes, tong the eggs into the ice water immediately.
let stand in the ice water for 15-20 minutes.
refridgerate or eat.

the shells will come off with great ease.

Bingo! Planned obsolescence and complain about landfill. It’s a laughing stock!

 

it's pretty much why I don't get a new phone but every 5 years......this notion of upgrading every 12 months is insanity.

 

Then, the planned obsolescence kicks in, the manufacturer stops its support, we then have no choice but get new one.

 

I pulled my brisket out of the freezer last night and put it in the fridge.

Checked it this morning and it was still a brick.

Hoping it has softened up by the time I get home tonight

 

Not to mention expensive!

 

New phone? Upgrade? What's that?

I'd still be using my flip phone if it was still supported. My present phone replaced the flipper. Ten years? I see no reason to upgrade. It has more functions than I want.

Stop and think about that Paul, in todays world what isn't bad for us...

 

Spoken like someone that would upgrade a phone... LOL Why would I give up a phone I've gotten used to, just to spend money for something I don't need? You sound like the kids I know that make six figures and complain that they can't save any money.
