seems to be the going rate anymore. i hate having to see doctors, or hospitals, but the way the ER is becoming the common reaction is just obscene to me.

i once accidentally drilled into my hand at work while holding the piece that i should have been drilling. drill bit walked off it, and right into my fleshy hand. not a huge deal, but i needed to get checked out, mostly to make sure no metal filings ended up in the wound.

at the time, a local chain called "midwest express clinic" was pumping out a ton of ad's everywhere about being everyone's one-stop-shop for all medical needs.

so my boss dialed up the nearest "midwest express clinic urgent care"(exactly how it read in all the billboards, and the big sign on the front of the building), and rushed me over to get my hand checked out. i mean, the name should say it all, and drilling into one's hand definitely counts as an "urgent care" need to me...

i've never seen a medical receptionist turn so white before at something not life threatening. through a wavering voice, she very quickly explained that they exist for school physicals, and flu shots, and were not prepared to treat serious medical needs, like bloody skin punctures.

we ended up in the ER. who took care of things like a normal 'urgent care' facility would.

after x-rays confirmed the new hole in my hand was just full of torn flesh, blood, and stupidity, they bandaged me up, and then brought in a plastic surgeon for the wound appearance, who very appropriately, entered the room with the somber face of a bus driver that just had to drive a bus full of 1st grade kids through a field full of kittens.

he very carefully explained how i was going to have a big nasty scar on my hand, and what it would take to properly close up the area so i could remain a top-paid hand model. i laughed, and showed him how the drill bit area was less than 0.5" in diameter, while i had a 2" long scar, 1" away from it from a previous mistake. i promised him i'll never be a hand model unless carhart starts making jewelry, and we went on our way.

interesting that offset bender works at all with that box.

every single electrical contractor i know has one hanging on their wall. and every one of them curses at that thing for not making large enough bends to be useful. most bend the pipe to 1/2" lower than it needs to be to properly go into the box.

ok, but to satisfy hunters curiosity, how many pumps does it take to get the box to lift the truck?

check all the prices. multiple brands, the vevor is supposedly 'upgraded' with a better central column to keep the airbag portion from rolling over. but there's a dozen different brands all with the same thing, and different sales schedules.

he got the 'adjustable long handle' version.

i got the 'long handle' version(fyi, i got it for $69.99)

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CCNWN3P9?th=1

actually, i ordered it back in beginning of july. i assembled it 2 weeks ago. i was planning on making it part of my trailer, hence why i got the cheaper model. no reason to spend more if i'm hacking it up.

but since it arriving, every weekend is 110 degree heat index outside temp, and i'd be doing the work in a poorly-ventilated pizza oven, erm, garage. so my motivation to do anything has been lacking, to say the least.
