I don't agree. I lived in Colorado in the '70's. The snow and weather was mostly dry. A foot or so of snow would be plowed and evaporated off the road in about 16 hours.

In New England we get ice storms and snow that is more like cement. You can plow it but without salt it will turn into ice ( like in your driveway...)

It's rarely fluffy or friendly, here. You are unlikely to be able to get thru unplowed snow that is the least bit taller than your ground clearance; it just builds up under the vehicle until you are high-centered and digging it out is more like tunnelling in dirt or ice cream than Western snow.

honestly it makes no sense the non abs 2wd and 4x4 results should have been different. in both cases all 4 wheels locked up immediately. being in 4x4 or 2wd would be irrelevant so results should of been the same. also basing speed off of rpm in an automatic is gona be give differences. i wont argue any further but i still believe being in 4x4 and not allowing abs to fully be independent between front and rear traction limits SHOULD work better. but yes this is completely dependent on the capabilities of the specific abs system. in the case of that particular truck the abs system actually increased braking distance.

Falken Wildpeak tires perform well in winter conditions.

Get Fluid Film and put it in a spray bottle and coat the undercarriage generously. It will help keep the salt away from the frame. On nice days, run it through an automatic car wash with an undercarriage spray to wash the salt off.

Heated wipers from Crystal work very well.

I live in Colorado so I put 300# of sandbags right over the rear axle. She rides like a Caddy on snow packed roads when I have the sand bags back there. IMG_6840.jpg

Tire chains never hurt to have on hand. I keep a bag behind my rear seats but I have yet to need or use them.

Go to the parts store and get an anti-freeze tester and make sure your anti-freeze is correct for the temps you will experience.

-20° Windshield washer fluid. Run all your old washer fluid out by holding the sprayer.

Get a few cans or a case of Prestone De-Icer. Scraping windshields and windows is a thing of the past.

Also a remote start might be very beneficial where you are. Just remember to set your vents and heater on high fan and hot when you park at the end of the day.

And best of all, is the Frostguard windshield cover. It also comes with mirror covers. I use this when I park at work and it works perfectly.
