I have an issue I need help troubleshooting with my passenger taillight. Everything works fine when the ignition is in the auxiliary position. When the truck is running is when I have the problems. Here are my observations:

no problems with the driver side

    1. when I turn the turn signal on the brake light also blinks.
    2. When the turn signal is on it works but if I hit the brakes it stops working.
    3. The reverse light doesn’t work
    4. The bulbs are all new

Also, the ABS light occasionally comes on after hitting the brakes with the right turn signal on.

Had a very similar issue recently and it about drove me crazy. Did you recently plug or unplug the connector on the taillight? My problem was traced to bad connectors. I replaced the pigtails and the light assemblies (Amazon for the lights, eBay for the pigtails) and problem solved. You may be able to clean and tighten up the connections in the light assemblies/pigtails if you’re lucky, one of mine was so badly corroded that it heated up and melted the pigtail. And remember, most automotive electrical issues can be traced to a faulty ground connection!

dielectric grease on the connectors, maybe clean them and check the grounds on your tail lights. A bad ground is a common failure point here. Mine did it and I just cleaned up all my connectors and checked my grounds. Had to fix one as the wire was cracked and not connecting properly.

Do you have a trailer light adaptor? All of your observations are indicating a bad ground.

In my case, I was going to install a trailer light adapter but couldn’t because of the “jumper wires” a PO installed to fix the corroded connector issue. Rewiring with new pigtails was necessary in order to install the trailer adapter but my issues started when I unplugged the taillights from the harness. Apparently the connection was good enough undisturbed but once it was disconnected and reconnected the problems started. I haven’t installed the trailer adapter yet, just finished getting the Gremlins out of the taillights

Ended up fixing the problem. This may not be recommended but I sprayed brake cleaner into the connector, blew it out with high pressure air and then put some dielectric grease in the connector. Hooked it back up and everything worked!!
