That's a horrible idea. What time?
Found a project. Cleaning up the hood the "cabinet maker" made. It had a .25" bow on the left side. Took the reciprocating tool with a general purpose blade and ran ot against the level for a straight edge. I had to improvise away to hold the level i the right spot at the bottom. Backed out the screws and cut through the Brad nails. Filled some gaps and minor cracks. Tomorrow will be sand and trim it out shaker style to match the kitchen cabinets. And a couple of pics of the shop space. Hoping to be in before Labor Day.

Did you ever post a pattern, or at least measurements this group? You know it would be appreciated and copied. :)

Sorry. I wish that I could help. I draw the patterns on grid paper and they are basically destroyed when I glue them to MDF to make templates. I don’t do anything in the computer. If anyone wants basic measurements I would be happy to help.

    Just thought ...

Next time you make them, you could take a picture of the pattern on the grid paper, provide the grid size and provide key measurements (bottom width, leg width, angle on the seat, etc). Most could work from that, I think.

This is the best that I can do for you on this project. The chart paper squares are 1”. The seat assembly, back slats, foot rest, and back support are 16”.

FYI - I just drew this out to look nice and used what I have learned from my other chair builds. Time will tell if the design is stable and strong. All of my other chairs are still solid at this time.

I did sit on it this morning and am still alive.

Getting a side view, along with a dimension or two will make it easy to replicate in CAD ;)

Got drawers built and, mounted, need to figure out something I screwed up then I’ll get the mid top secure. I “think” I’ll get this wrapped up in a week and a half?

A little more progress today on the exhaust hood. I found and corrected another mistake from the "cabinet maker."

The back on the right side was an inch shorter, so I cut that off and remade that.

Then started adding the trim. This tapers in on the side and front, so the geometry class I never took came into play. Used an angle finder and got pretty close. The cross piece where the front starts to slope back was two pieces with a huge gap. I cut the angle on the top piece so it looks like one piece instead of two. Ran out of brad nails (not a fan for this application) so I glued the top piece of trim on.

Fill and sand tomorrow. May try and get some stain in as well.

Still wet and shiny, but I could not resist a beauty shot along with a celebratory sip of Redwood Empire whiskey.

Pardon my lack of creativity here, but ... how will you get the 16 Kreg-junction screws into the top? Not much room to maneuver, unless you plan to use a flexi-tube extension for a drill.

How do you fireproof the wood exhaust hood? Or is it a different "exhaust" than a cooking surface?

Good question and one I hadn't thought about.

We are going direct vent outside and not on gas. I honestly never considered it and the builder never brought it up.

We are located in a volunteer district that runs tankers and draws from larger ponds if needed. (We have a 5 acre spring fed pond 60+ feet deep behind the house.) We are adding a collapsible garden hose and spicket under the kitchen sink and another in the wood shop I'm going to have, so we're trying to prepare for a just in case.

    I will look into this.

    Edit:

Quick Google search brought up this. There appears to be stuff out there. The research will continue.

Tin plate-sheets are lightweight and fireproof, I would think. Or copper ... copper inside the hood would look nice. Maybe apply the product you shared, then the sheets to deflect a majority of the sparks/heat.

But I am just guessing. You should ask your question in a "professional kitchen designer" forum.

We have to make the mounting plate yet for the exhaust fan / light / ... I may be able to do that between the wood and the unit. But I would want a solid sheet and maybe spray the corners with a fire rated foam. It would also make cleaning any exposed areas easier.

    Thanks for the idea.

Please post how it works. I hate giving bad advice and would like to know if any of mine held up.

It might not look like it but I've got plenty of clearance to get my stubby M12 impact in there to drive them in.
