    Hey folks,

I am a new member with a new to me 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport 4X4.

It looks like this truck was subjected to a lift and I am trying to find out how much there is.

The back has Rough Country shocks and has 2" blocks so I am guessing it is a 2" lift back there.

I am not familiar with the front technology. There is an aluminum spacer block between the spring and the spring mount. It measures 1-1/2" as best as I can measure with my calipers.

I am attaching two pictures, I hope they go through.

Someone has changed the OEM wheels and tires and I am not crazy about the stance and I figure knowing what the lift is will be where to start.

That’s a spacer lift. 3” in front, 2” in back. It’s okay if you’re strictly on pavement but there are better options out there. A new coil over shock with lift springs will typically ride better up front and new springs or add a leaf will help the rear.

Appears to be a 2" lift up front with the add on rear block for another 2"

To get the amount of lift in front, you double what it measures

I am guessing they were trying to change the rake by adding more in the front than rear.

Good article but I'm having trouble understanding if I have the "Top Hat Spacer" or "Preload Spacer" technology .

I'd ditch the lift & start over if I were you.

Not trying to bag on your truck at all, but there are waaay better options available (including stock). I'm only commenting on it because you stated you did not necessarily like the stance anyway.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...

basically all lift kits will lift the front more to level out the truck which is what majority of people want

Your best bet is to buy 5100 Bilsteins up front, and lose that spacer lift. You can set it @ 2" up front with a 1" block in the rear, or set it @ 1" up front with no block in the rear. Both will give you a much smoother ride, and save your front end components. 2" blocks in the rear is bad advice, as is the front spacer lift.

Bilstein recommends you keep your stock oem springs, so no need to spend more money there. Both will give you the lifted look with good handling.

    Good luck.

With that spacer up front the CV boots won't last long and if you tried any real offroading the springs would collide with the upper control arm and you could also very easily break a CV axle.

I wouldn't run much more than a 1in block in the rear. Toyota OEM 1in and 1/2" blocks are actually really cheap. You need the proper length shocks match though or you will blow your shocks.

For those lifts, the front bump stops should absolutely have a spacer. As it sits, the shock will bottom out before the bump stop can engage.

See Tinker's video at 5:30 here for spacer lift explanation:

Shocks bottoming out will blow them and your shocks will leak and become useless.
