    Hi,

    2017 Tacoma SR5 Double Cab 4WD

I’m concerned with the illumination of the speedometer and tachometer.

When I have the headlights on both the speedo and tach are illuminated and I can adjust the brightness with little stalk knob. (Center rectangular display is illuminated.)

When I have the parking lights on both the speedo and tach are illuminated and I can adjust the brightness with little stalk knob. (Center rectangular display is illuminated.)

    The “Problem”:
When I have the running lights on both the speedo and tach are NOT illuminated. But, the center rectangular display is illuminated.

Is this normal operation? I’d like the speedo and tach to be illuminated even when I don’t have the headlights on. Did I flip a switch somewhere?

    Thank you

Nah, totally normal buddy. I have a 2017 SR5 3.5L v6 with DRL on the stalk, but no LED on the truck at all. When I turn the light stalk on once, to the first position, it doesn't illuminate anything neither. My center little info center will be lit, but nothing else will be, don't even have the * green indicator light it the upper right hand corner of the MPG cluster. Just like figuring out that with the high-beams ON, the fog lights go out for some reason, just a standard thing on the Tacoma. There is work arounds for that issue, but it's totally normal.

The fogs on with brights mod is super simple, inexpensive and works great on my 2020 SR5 w/ halogen lights and factory fogs.

Well, poop. I was hoping I'd messed up a setting somewhere.

    Thanks!
