Congratulations Bill. Let the spoiling begin.

Congratulations! My son picked up a new 2024 SR5 in the first week of August. I hope your Tacoma has the two available packages. The 2024 is a nice Tacoma. Makes my 2009 seem pretty bad, till I drive the 09. I still enjoy driving it.

Good morning. The driveway is going to be sealed today. Prepared the driveway with Dawn to remove oil residue from sons F150 yesterday.
Wife would like chicken thighs for dinner tonight, I can do this.

Yesterday a y was warm ay 96°. Today will remain in the 70's. I hope it keeps the No-See-Ems down. I keep getting bit on my evening walks.

Sold my old smoker and the wood chipper this weekend. No more major items to sell, wife is happy! The Avalon is back in the garage.

I didn’t head up that way in ct much. Matter of fact half of the state I didn’t bother with. My choice nothing personal. Lot of cool stuff I. Missed out on. Now I’m 300 miles away not planning any trip up there either.

Well the furnace instal is going well.
    Old furnace is out.
    20250818_121357.jpg
    Up the stairs we go.
    20250818_121410.jpg
I have to cut the hole for the cold air intake and filter mount.
    20250818_125833.jpg
Frame for the filter is on and it's ready to go down the stairs.
    20250818_133743.jpg
Gas line is leak tested and electrical is hooked up. I connected the thermostat wires and gave it a short test burn, all is well.
    20250818_163407.jpg
Tomorrow I'll get a piece of sheet metal made at a local shop to attach the warm air to the ductwork. New furnace is slightly different sized and offset 3 inches. Hopefully I can get it in one section with a flex coupler.
Then I'll connect the exhaust and I'll be ready for winter. So far I have $879 into this plus whatever the sheet metal is going to cost me. New furnace is much quieter also.

I thought this was interesting. Old furnace had 3 burn tubes that fed into a manifold and then distributed it to 8 smaller tubes.
    20250818_134942.jpg
New furnace has 4 burn tubes that are fed direct and only has a manifold for the exhaust. New furnace is 4k btu higher at 80,000 btu and both are 80% efficient.
    20250818_134949.jpg
I just found it interesting how the design has changed after 20 years.

I mowed today... changed the oil in the mower the year before Covid, and replaced the original 18 year old air filter last year. It came with a plug so I put that in too. Added stored ethanol gas from last year, and the mower started on the second pull. That's unusual because it usually starts on the first. But there was accumulated, dried grass underneath and it had to spit that out to get enough travel to start. Oh wait... it's nineteen years old this year. Maybe I should start babying it.
