Is that trail NH or Vermont?

Bed on a boat trailer makes a good overland trailer haha
Went down the trailer rabbit hole before the flatbed cuz kids,
then fell into a little toy hauler camper and the trailer I built just sits.
Happen to take it out the other day cuz my hitch hauler still mounted on it

That is in southern VT. Great trail if you arent scared of winching and body damage.

I made that truckbed trailer mostly cause it was funny. Plus it was nice not having to break down camp to go wheeling.

i would highly recommend putting a leash cable on both the cotter pin and hitch pin for the tailgate. i can't even begin to count how many of those i've accidentally lost, or damaged by leaving in a crushable spot "so i don't forget it"...

at the very least, tie the cotter pin to the hitch pin

Using a tractor bucket as a press brake is great to see.

It’s was a topic of discussion with my local buddies. As of now I’m not gonna leash the cotter pins. Couple reasons, one being my fat finger fits perfectly in the hole to pull the pin and don’t wanna feel anything but the pin when I pull it. Two being I spent a little time making the main pin smooth going in and out but they don’t rattle.. even if I lost a cotter pin the main pin wouldn’t easily release itself. Or I can carry a couple spare cotter pins. I do think it’s a good idea but gonna wait to see if it’s necessary and if I think differently about it when/if I lose one.

Here is a question for some of you. Shock relocations. With some of the flatbeds I feel like we loose the “wheel arch” portion that most of the relocation kits use for longer shocks.

just curious what relocations people are using and what shocks people are fitting.

I picked up some 14” Billie’s brand new for cheap and plan to fit them with either bamf towers or notching my frame for a bit more clearance and mounting Tmr towers. Hoping I don’t have to raise the bed….

BAMF towers fit fine with mine.

The darn plastic box that sits above the frame was more of a hinderance than anything else.

Okay great to know. I have to mess around with it still and everyone’s bed is a bit different. Just have to get to it.

I just mounted the shocks to the bed. They are mounted within 3/16" of the top skin to get them as high as possible while keepin the bed low as possible.

The bamf towers plus 14's will put the lower shock eye really low. Leaving for a trip tomorrow but if you remind me next week I can get some hard measurements for that, I have a bamf kit sitting on the shelf.

I have an aluminum bed and don’t think I could utilize the bed as a mounting spot. I have both the Tmr and bamf towers on the shelf. Just have to mess with it. Just wondering if 14’s are too much. Most likely going to try and make it work since I got them so cheap. $200 cnd for brand new shocks.

14's are good for 63's. Just need to get the upper shock eye decently high to keep the lower tabs not hangin way below the axle.

Actually currently building a bedcage for another member around here for 16's

    Them TMR towers look great.

Found this on tmr’s site. Bit more work but I figured if I can get them drenched into the frame I have less worries about shock and tire rubbing together. the hangers are pretty beefy so should hold the frame together plus most of the frame is boxed back there. Just more work compared to the bamf hangers.

If it were me I'd do the TMR's. Are you on 63's too?

    Yeah. 63’s

I have both the bamf and Tmr hangers and just leaning towards the TMR ones to avoid tire contact on the shock. Just not as straightforward of an install compared to the bamf

Speaking of shock relocations I am looking into moving my shocks behind the axle. This does a few things.

Gains some room in between the frame and the tire allowing for smaller or potentially no wheel spacers. Assuming the shock is 5" from center of the strikepad to where the interference may happen you gain an extra 0.5" behind the axle.

I think this is not typically done just cause of packaging reasons with the stock bed, not an issue for me. I could be wrong and if anyone has any info that would be greatly appreciated.

Still got a lot of little projects I would like to finish up or start on, but I’m pleased with the progress made so far.
