    Both look like amazing setups.
i think solo probably put of my budget.
    I guess i meant 3.5”.
Maybe i still haven’t learned my lesson on not wanting to go crazy wide.
It was such a pain shoehorning my 4” fenders around my existing aftermarket bumper id hate to have to get 6” fenders which i would think a 4.5” kit would call for.
Seems like a ridiculous reason i know

Dirtking also has a +2 now. Im sure that pulls at least 13. But yes. The 2.25 and 4 don’t come close to advertised. Basically a bunch of money to toss their logo on your truck and be able to mount a bypass.

i was at 14.5 on my dirt designs kit and ran out of shock....the cost to switch just the shocks to 10's was a huge jump to gain an extra 1.75 inch or whatever i ended up with.....

Is it a good idea to bump off uppers with just an engine cross brace. Would the bump zone of the secondary take care of some of the work?
This is from an lsk install on here
    Figured youd have experience

Well the cross brace is picking up the forces correctly in the right direction so as long as its built correctly it should be fine.

I’m running that exact setup with no issues. If you are running a 3.0 bypass it’s bump zone does most of the work anyways.

Good to know. I was thinking it had to be tied into an engine/ cab cage. I guess all that could be added later if it gets to that level

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. Would a video that shows how the rear compresses over the bump help with knowing if the rear has too much or too little compression damping? Can't really tell much from the landing I assume, since I'll be on the bump stops regardless of how the shocks are tuned, right?

I tried staying on the throttle a little more when I jumped it again, it seemed to help my attitude, though I ended up spinning tires in the air a bit.

Not a ton of long lips around here, but I'll keep looking. I'd love to go out to Pismo or Johnson Valley sometime, but idk when that'll be.

That's an awesome jump, I should probably LT the truck before I attempt something like that lol.

I've been watching Flight School and I'm learning a lot.

Finally got this truck running tonight, this steering idea seems to be a massive win. Steering 37’s at idle with 1 finger. Pretty sure a 5 year old could do the same.

Total cost of this steering project was approximately 1500$.

Have a video on FB and IG stories if you feel like checking it out.

    Looks sweet.
Did you completely rebuild the crossmember? Or could this be welded onto a stock frame?

I need to just do a YouTube channel lol.

Still the factory crossmember. It did have to be notched out to fit the ram. I just used the old crossmember from my truck to do the mockup on the bench. Simplified things a ton.

Something that’s bothered me for a while. I was never impressed with the Howe TC upgrade. My steering has always sucked at idle, even with assist it can be tight. But it’s really not at fault of Howe.

The biggest issue is the pulley being used is simply far too large.

With the crank pulley being approximately 5.5” and the pump pulley being 5.835”. This means the pump is being severely under driven. With the TC pumps being capable of 8,000rpm at the shaft, I can’t comprehend the reasoning for this.

    TC pump
    5,500RPM engine
    5,184RPM at the pump

    at idle
    850rpm
801 rpm at the pump. These pumps don’t come to life until over 1,000RPM shaft speed. Hence a heavy wheel at idle.

The way I set my wife’s truck up, we did a 4.5” pulley. Basically stock pulley size.

    At idle
    850rpm
    1038 rpm at the shaft

    5,500RPM
    6,722RPM at the shaft.

Im not trying to advertise a product as I likely won’t even sell anything related to this. However, if you’re struggling with tight steering at low RPM with the TC. A pulley swap would do you a ton of good.

I’m amazed at how much pressure the wife’s truck is making at idle. 1,580psi to be exact.

Take it for what it’s worth. Not trying to trash, just trying to help!

I've been struggling with this myself. Do you have a link to the pully you used?

Has anyone figured out why the truck idle drops when moving to to TC pump? It's horrendously low.

I used a PSC 6 rib. Just dropped down to a 6 rib belt. Be aware, I am mounted differently. I may be down to sell these brackets at some point. Way easier than dealing with tiny washers anyways. Otherwise I know quixotic has a similar mount.

Good to know! I am piecing together a TC pump upgrade, just got the Quixotic bracket. Was gonna go for a 5-3/8” pulley but will consider the 4.5”.

I would just do the 4.5”. You won’t regret it! And you won’t regret piecing your own kit together either. This entire steering setup, pump, ram, filtered reservoir and all cost less than the kit.
