I mean, I’m not gonna lie. I’m still on the pilot sport 4s….. there was no snow on the road, so I figured why not! I’m really really enjoying the car. I know there’s an argument as to how expensive they are, but the longer I live with it the more I completely understand why they cost what they cost because it’s a very special vehicle

I agree completely. It’s a lot of money for a “Corolla” but once you drive it, you get it.

I was gifted a GR Yaris shift knob. Nice Alcantara with a red ring that matches my GRs color. Nothing too fancy but I like it.

Wanted to do a 14,000 mile update for those interested in these cars! The things I’ve learned and how ownership has been:

First off… I have not had any services done at the dealership! This is seriously one of the easiest oil changes you can possibly do at home especially with a fumoto valve so I’ve been just doing my own oil and filters. Running Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic and I have changed the oil 5 times now (a little excessive but it’s cheap and easy).

Second observation is (maybe it’s just my experience) but I can get absolutely killer mpg on road trips. Just did a 1000 mile drive all through Michigan up to Charlevoix/Petosky and on the way up averaged 30.5 mpg on the computer. It’s easy for me to get 28mpg+ with a bike on the roof going up to my parents (180 miles) as well. I am not going to lie I’m not one to beat on my cars so I’m not getting into the turbo super hard to see these numbers.

Third: I love the intelligent manual. The more I’ve used it and driven the car more I realize how much assistance it really is. Coming out of a 2020 STI it’s insane how easy these cars are to drive smooth especially with imt and the auto revmatch works awesome

Negatives: I will admit, on the stock Michelins the car rides rough but it’s also a rigid chassis performance car with a composite roof. The ride quality sacrifice does amount to a very very planted feel where the GR feels like there’s nothing else you can drive/corner as fast on public streets.

also the stock brake pads just absolutely cost the BBS wheels no matter what you do! Comes with the territory

So far it’s been an amazing vehicle to own and in my opinion is one of the cooler cars still on the market! Those that know, know and it gets a lot of compliments by “car people”

I’m a little over 14k miles on mine as well. My overall average is 28.4 but I’ve had multiple tanks well into the 30s, best so far was 34.7.

I switched to falken aklimates a while back as I unexpectedly had to drive my car for a bit during the winter months. I’ve been very happy with them

I do get some brake squeal from time to time which is kind of annoying. I’ve also discovered if you park the car after washing or driving in the rain, the brakes tend to stick / rust if you let it sit for a few days. I had the rotational clunking that @Squatting Pigeon had. I just braked real hard a few times and it fixed it lol

I forgot to add that it still has not burst into flames either.
that is great input and killer mpgs too! I’m not sure what I’m gonna run yet for tires, but I’m gonna have to check those out! What size did you run?

couple other things I forgot to mention:
I do have my active exhaust open all times with the “Brian Williams” mod. For me it’s like the perfect amount of sound on the car needed! Combined with the K&N intake it’s just a fun amount of turbo induction and exhaust noises.

on the note of tires it’s a known thing but the speedo is definitely showing a little bit faster than normal. I wanna say at around 80 mph. It’s like around 3 mph off and I believe that’s due to the stock tire size being smaller than the Morizo spec. If you run GPS on your speed, it definitely runs slow (not really a bad thing).

Another positive is I’ve had no glitches whatsoever or anything weird with any of the electronic interface, head unit, CarPlay, etc., which was like just absolutely brutal on my STI. Everything just works and does what it’s supposed to do and it’s a very simple car
