I assumed you would’ve already done this, but did you change out the cabin air filter? a lot of that smell stuff sticks in the headliner also and the pad that’s underneath the carpet. It could also be sticking in the grease in the tracks of the seat… smells stick to stuff. Could even be in the tracks of the windows and stuck to the plastic film and the door where they were holding their cigarette. Good luck. Ozium is powerful, but don’t breathe that stuff in.

I will buy a new cabin air filter today. Also get some charcoal bags and maybe a very inexpensive ionizer because I have little use for ionizers other than this.

Am I wrong or is that the soft glow of a cell phone in that truck that caused the wreck? Are they illegal to handle while driving in your area?

Toyota makes a more expensive filter option with charcoal but idk if it’s worth it.

Charcoal bags claim to be reusable, and a cheap ionizer can be used for a few hours instead of just minutes to keep at it if the odor returns. But with even light offroading I probably need to change my cabin air filter.

Could also try the Lysol air sanitizer spray trick, spraying it into the air intake at firewall from outside. Seen this on videos but never tried it. Even inside the vents. Might be worth a shot. Put climate on vent and go to town with the spray.

I currently use this little diffuser/atomizer (this one's not available anymore) and its awesome to keep the truck smelling good. Not overpowering and the fragrance bottles last a really long time. Fits nicely in the rear cup holder, and its always plugged in and charging. I turn her on whenever i park it at work for the day and at night when I get home. Of course, these are just fragrances and would mask a bad smell and not get rid of it. But good to have nonetheless imo.

Other than that, I'd try just about anything else too. Completely open everything and let it all air out for a day maybe? And get a cabin filter with charcoal in it for a while (it reduces air flow but might help clear it up, then install regular filter back in later). Along with gel/charcoal packs. Or maybe one of those car bombs that fumigate it. Um, idk what else, professional whole interior cleaning/shampooing maybe? Lol.

I occasionally would have a strong musty smell in my 1st gen when it rained and was humid. But never got around to taking care of it as it was fine otherwise.

Yearrrrs ago with my 1st truck (an old T100) had poor air flow and smell. Had easy access to the condenser under the dash. I opened up the cover and it was full of dirt and mold and all kinds of crap. I was able to remove it easily and cleaned the whole thing out with condenser spray foam cleaner and pressure washer. Solved it. Thought of doing this with my 1st gen but iirc, it wasnt an easy job to get to the condenser. Probly the same on 3G. Also involves draining ac and recharging if you remove it. But you might be able to get access to the condenser and just spray the foaming cleaner in it. That's IF this is even worth mentioning bc idk how bad it is or how determined you are. Ha. But thought id share my experiences.

Well, I will get my new cabin air filter in a few minutes, and some charcoal bags from HD. HD sells an inexpensive ionizer I can run inside the truck.

    Options I have ...

Don’t know if this has been mentioned but I added several drops of pine scented essential oil to the cabin filter, cause I’m a genius. Yikes, I used way too much. Smelled like someone shit a Christmas tree. Should have just used like 1 or maybe 2 drops. Made my eyes water it was so strong. Took out the filter and let it air in the sun for a full day and that made it tolerable.

Haha I did same with clove oil, I thought I destroyed the truck with about 8 drops on cabin filter. My eyes burned a little. I think 2 drops would have been fine, now I cannot smell it at all. I think 2 drops every 2 weeks would be a good formula to start with.

Did the viper cut. I would only consider this if you are contemplating a full bumper replacement like I am. If not there is no going back and I'm not sure it's worth it.

On the schedule. Lexus plugs to replace the Toyota plus on the front differential.

Is this doable without ramps or is the ramps at all 4 tires pretty much required?

I don't fit under the front of the truck without ramps. You may or not fit. Also, that HF transfer pump doesn't have enough suction. Get a hand pump before you waste an expensive can of transfer case oil.

Thanks for the advice, both parts. I was wondering about the powered pump that "should not be run dry" and has a big fixed head. I only have 2 ramps, so I guess I need to get 2 more for "level work".
