I replaced my original brake booster (240k miles) and the part I installed is not working right. The Toyota part is 44610-04110 but has been discontinued. The trash went out this morning so I no longer have the original. Part I got was from Partsgeek and given their lack of support or assistance so far, I'll avoid them like the plague forever.

Anyone have recommendations for an aftermarket one that is plug and play with ABS? Rockauto has Cardone new and remanned. Thoughts on each? $100 for reman and $300 for new.

Side question that may come into consideration... would a tundra brake upgrade in the future change the booster and/or MC?

Best advice, buy from your local auto parts stores for warranty purposes and easy of service. Just saying. Not worth trying to save a couple of bucks IMO.

As for TBU, you wouldn’t need to change booster or MC.

What symptoms are you having with the new one? Did you adjust the booster push rod to meet with the master cylinder?

In my opinion, rock auto is quite reliable when it comes to their parts, I haven't had any issues with any of their parts so far. Never buy remanufactured parts from them, always buy from the premium section or standard.

I was referencing warranty claims and truck down time while you wait for the replacement part to arrive. Their customer service lacks common sense and in the past where I was shipped wrong parts, I had to process an exchange, return the incorrect part and wait. They’re a middle man and drop ship parts from vendors directly. I still purchased from RA but only for little things like filters etc nothing that can create a prolong wait time.

Sometimes, it’s better to pay a little more for ease of warranty purposes and exchanges.

You've brought up an excellent point, they do have bad customer service. However, if you take the effort to read the descriptions and take a while to check the item description it does definitely help. I've purchased an AC kit from them, came with a new radiator, compressor belts lines etc, works great. As well as wheel and hub assembly parts. I've also purchased numerous braking parts from them as well. Each to their own though.
I do definitely love O'Reily's rental program which makes those finicky parts easier to install.

Yea. The issue during my past experience is 1) the part number is correct but the part inside is wrong/previously installed or 2) the part number itself is wrong, who ever pulled the parts from the warehouse didn’t bother checking. That’s when you wish you purchased the items locally because you can exchange them in person vs creating a RMA, returning the parts and wait for them to receive it and sending another part out. Hopefully the replacement part they ship the second time is correct. I’m more concern about downtime, just waiting a week and can’t use the vehicle. Returning a core isn’t so much of a headache besides taking your time to drop off the package with the return label.

Don’t know what to say, I have a NAPA near by and don’t order from them online and I always know what part I’m ordering.
    Good luck

Ah, understandable, rockauto does lead to downtime and I can understand how they may have sent you the wrong part. In my experience, I haven't had any problems with them, but that's just me. I didn't mean to invalidate your concerns.

Honestly though, nothing beats showing up to the local parts store and grabbing the right thing immediately. But hey, some of us enjoy the gamble, right?

    Yeah RA
I dunno sometimes cust service OK
Like the time for my 2rz plug wires
Box was destroyed and there were 5(!) wires in the box(only 2 actually fit)
Did the online send in pix thing, I got what I needed
    On the other hand
Friend ordered some old BWW (1985?) alternator. Part sent didn’t fit
He provided documentation that box mislabeled (right part# but wrong boxed part). RA did not care, told him he ordered wrong part….no exchange/refund
Friend is done with RA…..on principle

I agree with hilux about certain parts from Vatozone/hoeriellys. Especially if they come with lifetime warranty.

Got a RM p/s pump from store
Had my core to make sure correct fitment
Got home and saw the front seal had a crack in it. Schlepped back to the store, mgr said ‘tht ain’t gonna work “
Ordered me another pump right there

I would hate to think about the same return process with RA
