I replaced the mode actuator on my 2010 tacoma that was bad. I actually removed the frame and cam behind it. When putting back together, I wasn’t sure how the arm pegs lined up in the cam slots. After I got it back together, now the modes are backwards. AC blows thru the vents on defrost and goes thru the defrost when on vents. I tried calibration 4 different ways and nothing changed. Can anybody help? I’ve looked online and nobody addresses this.

Does the notch on the actuator shaft line up with the mark on the actuator body with the switch in each position as shown in the picture below?
If not you may have the incorrect actuator.

It’s the top one. Everything looks to line up with your diagram and blows out of the correct places according to your diagram except the control knob is backwards. To get it on panel the control knob has to be on defrost, and floor has to be on panel.
I feel pretty good that I have the right part but I think I have the cam in backwards or something

Does the notch line up or is it backwards as well?

Notches line up for the particular mode but the dial is backwards now. For example, in the diagram where it says panel, the notches line up and it blows out of the dash vents like it supposed to but the dial is on defrost. When the actuator notches are on defrost it blows out of the defrost area to the windshield but the dial is on panel.

So you have the incorrect actuator.

We've seen this issue before but typically it's with the temp actuator, I'd use the part number off the old actuator if you still have it.

I’m pretty sure I got the right part. I think when I took the cam out I messed something up putting back in. I didn’t match mark it. I just put it back in however the arm pins lined up and it moved freely.
The new part looks exactly like the old one and even has the indicator lines on the positions in the same place

It's operating properly but is inverted which would have nothing do do with aligning the levers.
There is different actuators for these, while they look the same the control voltage is inverted so they will operate backward.

Like I said we have ran into this before, Toyota even superseded some part numbers to the incorrect part.
