I purchased a 96 Tacoma from a family whom had a member that was retiring from driving. I just wanted a 2nd vehicle. Since last fall, it has become my daily driver. The only things I've encountered are a constant brake light, a broken odomete 10 miles away from 300K, and a relentless "squeal" from the dash when it hits 75mph or higher. Anything else is solid. My first Toyota in 30+ years of driving, so any advice would be great.

Good find nice and clean. Starting with the brakes that fluid looks contaminated so I would do a flush and inspect brake pads and rear shoes for wear.

The brake light could be due to a stuck float in the brake fluid reservoir.

Push the E-brake handle forward and see if the brake light goes out. Mine was adjusted in a way that had some slop in the cable, which resulted in the handle not returning all the way forward to depress the brake light switch.

Sounds like you got an awesome truck!

If your brake lights are on all the time check your brake pedal switch stop pad. Its a Little quarter size pad the brake pedal/switch engages to shut the brake lights off.

Did mine last week, look for little green broken plastic pieces on your floor board.
