I suppose that's also an option, however I don't get offroad much, and honestly this isn't even a daily driver anymore since I have a company provided work truck.

It looks like I can either drill it out, or take an angle grinder from the back and should pop off.

If it's just a stud you should also be able to hammer it through from the front.

Is that the mount for the front bumper? I thought they made an additional bracket that ties in directly to the frame. Not sure what brand your bumper is but you might be able to search up a reinforcement bracket.

You still have a "steal of a deal" if you install a new factory crate motor. And, you will have something that will last for "miles of smiles" with no worries; assuming you do the maintenance that the previous folks obviously did not.

And, your overall cost still puts you ahead....

Sooooo, yesterday, the day after doing this job, I drove the truck about 30 miles total, and the ABS light would come on and off periodically. I also happen to drive in an alley where the sound bounces off the concrete walls really well, and I could hear some weird scraping noise on the driver side.

Took the wheel off this morning and found the new wheel bearing/hub had over an eight of an inch of play going side to side, which explains the ABS sensor going wonky, and the noise from the rotor wobbling in the caliper. I retrieved the old hubs from the scrap pile, which if I'm being honest, had nothing wrong with them apart from being old and crusty looking (just like me!), and reinstalled the best looking out of the two after cleanup (also gonna keep the other one, just in case). Thoroughly bled the brakes again and took it for a 20 mile test run: the ABS light and scraping noises are gone, and truck stops on a dime. Now I gotta figure out how to return this defective part for a replacement or refund... :annoyed:

Always, always, always go to the most expensive place if insurance is involved… Sorry to hear this…

Finally got my Fox Factory Race coilovers and rear struts on, new UCAs, dif drop, and AALs on (thanks! @memario1214). Also dropped some steel brake lines in all around and put the AFE 3” exhaust (will taking some getting used to) on. Good day.. Rides infinitely better!

Not sure if it's an option with your insurance. But I've just had the adjuster or shop, quote the work, and then I just request a check and get the work done myself buying parts I want. Had my car damaged by hail, and used the check to repair the damaged areas with a CF hood, and an upgraded trim package, all for the price a shop would have charged. I did the labor, only outsourced the paint.

Ya honestly I should have done that. I could have bought an OEM painted bumper for 450 bucks and pocketed the rest..... I just really didn't have the time to deal with it this time. Although, the 8 days without a vehicle wasn't ideal.

I did that last time when someone put a nice dent in my rear bumper.
