97 tacoma 2.4 Dreaded strut rod

    97 tacoma 355,000 miles
    oil catch can-mini header-painted it last year
    Can you weld a washer on strut rod after swaybar link connection snaps off? This is the second time it has broke $100 part from stealership!!

    Not sure if I’ll weld a washer to the that. If it burns through, the concentrated pressure can cause injury. There has to be reason why it’s breaking off.

    Being very much less familiar with the 5 lug suspension, I went to look for pictures or diagrams of the sway bar attachment points. I found this thread with pictures. And this from the FSM:

    I assume you're asking about the item I highlighted in yellow. That is probably safe to weld to.

    However, the better question is, what are you doing that you're breaking that plate so often?

    This time it was just a pothole first time i went over speed bump to fast-its a common problem on 97 Tacoma 5 lug as far as i know!! They should sell that part highlighted in yellow

    If you are a good welder !
    Maybe make a complete new Piece.
    Get some used ones and make gussets to make them stronger!!
