The truck braked and beeped and said I was going to hit something.

good logical guess but i specifically told them not to wash it. they gave me a coupon to wash it that went in garbage.
i waited both times and it was not washed. good thought though.
i have had the sensor that enables adaptive cruise control get dirty in a snow/slush storm and fail until cleaned. i don't know if the same sensor.
regardless, both times clear sunny weather...driving thru parking/sales lot of cars and trucks no problem...get to driveway, slow down to look both ways, no one there, and it goes off. i would have taken it back if it happened again but did not...until EXACT same spot and situation about a year or two later. haunted.

Yeah the wife's car kicked in the "Lane Assist" for some reason one day and tried to merge in under an 18 wheeler. Thought I'd bought the farm for sure that day.
The Ranger was pretty sensitive about alarming and braking for no reason but never swerved me.
I think the Taco has done it once.

I didn't think these trucks could steer on your behalf, only apply the brakes and/or beep

Highlighted the key text - Wife's car did the auto swerving. These trucks (at least up to and including the 3rd gen) do not steer.

Galactic Punch? Tangy bile experience. Burned my throat. Paired nicely with the absolute lack of tsunami observed.

that's one heck of a false equivalency.

but to be fair, i'm really disheartened that my local hardware store doesn't sell tortilla shells.

I get this sometimes and was able to duplicate it. It happens to me when approaching an overpass on a cloudy day with enough contrast between the clouds and the clear sky. I can almost anticipate it as I travel this highway on a daily basis. Not sure if the shadow of the overpass is the trigger.

I saw a video where the vehicles don't even stop before hitting the dummy, so it's kind of not worth the electrical problems.

I always turn off the pre collision system as soon as I turn my truck on. Literally the first thing I do after I turn the key to start.

It’s annoying AF because you have to turn it off every time you get back in the truck but it’s almost killed me too many times by braking and screaming at me about things that aren’t even there when I’m cruising down the highway.

Sooner or later that pre collision system is going to get someone killed by causing a high speed rear end collision. I think all these new safety systems they install in new vehicles are extremely dangerous but what do I know :notsure:

I also pay attention when I drive and consider myself a good defensive driver so I don’t need those systems as much as a teenager or elderly person or distracted driver might. I find them to be more of a hazard than anything.

What's the statistic? Something like 85% of all drivers consider themselves in the top 10% of defensive driving?

    Maths don't math.
