Had a couple close friends ive known since grade school convince me to go with them to our 20yr high school reunion. I went. It was bizarre. The group I used to skateboard and four wheel with were all there. The seven of us stood in the corner and watched the same exact group of jocks who bullied us relentlessly throughout school cackling and running around like a flock of chickens. Havent changed a bit.

    Had ours last year.
    Didn’t go.
There were 1 or 2 guys still around that were going and my inner voice said don’t go cause I have unfinished business.

Happy Monday Stockers. Weather has changed and we're in a period of dry sunny days in the 70's. Halleluia.

Well, Lucille gave me my first scare in 12 years 180,000 miles. I was in the middle of three days away from home, travelling for work. Chicago/Northern Indiana during what was still a heat wave. chicago in particular was lots of stop and go, combined with usual highway runs.

Stopped for a long lunch with a sales guy and when I went back out to my truck, there was big pool of pink fluid. Now there had been no hint from the gauge cluster while traveling. No smell of anything. When leaving the truck there was no indication of any trouble. So she chose to let go while in the parking lot at a truck stop. Thank you Lucille.

Quick perusal made it pretty clear I was looking at the radiator itself. Hoses were fine. And when opening the cap the drip from the lower corner turned into a light stream.

My first thought was I was doing a parking lot radiator swap. Talked to a certain retired mechanic I know to find out how much of a headache that would be...opted for trying stop leak. To my surprise, it worked. Followed the instructions and she held. From there it was - do I head straight home or continue with my work trip. My living depends on relationships so I chose to take a chance and finish the trip. Long story short, after a few days of very hot highway miles, several 200 mile runs, I'm a believer in stop leak.

Saturday I replaced the radiator, and there was a needle hole right there at the bottom of the unit. After getting it in, I used a liqui-moly Radiator flush/distilled water heat/drain, followed by a distilled water heat/drain, followed by proper coolant fill.
So far so good. Took it our yesterday for some running around with eagle eyes on the gauge. Never wavered, nor has it through the whole ordeal.

As to what caused it, dunno. I don't think road debris hit it, the skid plate prevents that pretty well. Feel pretty confident we're good. hoping there won't be lasting issues from the stop leak. Engine never overheated and ran for a week.
