They really are. And I deal with a lot of rust so I have replaced both my backing plates which needed me to press out the studs and shit too. I basically rebuilt everything like new to save myself grief including new star adjusters and levers. Now the drums can lock up the rear if I want to.

I changed the oil, too!

I got 20K out of this set; was a little gunshy since I wore through the last set and had to get new rod ends. I've still got a few stock ADS misalignments, but once those are gone (usually after a couple bearings each), I'm going to transition over to the Fox misalignments that allow for a rubber o-ring to be installed, and seem to enable the bearings to last quite a bit longer.

New rust free fb marketplace bed purchased for my buddies truck. The salty boat ramp got the old bedsides. He's doing the body work this week and paint going on next weekend! Still deciding on a color.

Got as much surface rust as I could off my leaf springs, hit em with some primer, machine shop is installing my new bushings soon.

 

New LCAs:

 

Has TC updated the design of those LCAs to bring the LBJ forward, compared to stock?

The initial batch of arms were exactly like the stock LCAs, so there wasn’t any performance benefit over the stock arms.

 

I should have mentioned that I also added the TC Lower Uniball Conversion and TC Heim Steering Upgrade for enhanced strength and geometry while retaining adjustability.

 

New condenser, new AC charge. Holding this time... thankfully, since the only thing left was a trip to a shop to see if they might be able to get it to work. Too damned hot here in the summer/fall to not have it, so I haven't been able to drive it regularly since spring.

Also discovered I might have a battery issue, since I had to hook the battery to a battery tender overnight to get the engine to start. But one problem at a time.




EDIT: Forgot to plug the driver's side headlight back in. Doh.

 

New bedliner and Safe Floor for interior

 

I replaced the fuel pump in my truck this morning. It died without any symptoms - just gave up after ~411,000 miles. Luckily for me, it died at the house instead of stranding me somewhere. Thanks to the contributing members on this forum I had bought all of the parts necessary to do this repair in January 2020.

I am hereby claiming the tacomaworld.com world title for longest life fuel pump in the 3.4L V6 Division.

 

Much to your dismay I can confirm he’s not going back to the factory color, he’s looking at some options from the new Toyota colors

 

Why does each gen of Tacoma get more and more hideous looking!?

 

While the bed was mostly rust free we found 2 holes where moisture was trapped under the plastic liner.






Patched with a lap joint




Welded, fiber glassed, and a layer of bondo for appearance



All this will be coated in bed liner anyway but the goal is to remove as much rust as possible.


Truck bed and tailgate repaired and primed this weekend, then onto the cab next week

 

Awesome, I love my TC Uniball LBJ Conversion, although I have seen the others have problems with them, mine have been trouble free going on to 3 years now.

Anyway, I’m running the Solo Motorsports LCA which moves the LBJ location forward by 1”, and increases the caster. Along with the Icon UCA, I am getting a total of 5 degrees of caster which keeps the truck absolutely planted when I’m on the skinny pedal and pushing 10 psi of boost.
