On my 06 I recently gave up keeping the mirror tight. The original on my truck does not have a set screw.
I bought this Jingea on Amazon, it has a T20 set screw. All metal mounting hardware and fits over the original mount glued to the windshield. It also comes with a new one.

The original mirror mounting plastic cracked.

Someone kindly donated their stock mirror to me. Both the old one and newer one have the same loose problem. On hot days it’s flopped down every time. Monkeying with it caused a cracking glass noise so now I’m afraid if I mess with it I’ll end up having to replace the windshield.

I believe the answer is the stock mirror simply sucks. On my 87 Supra, if anything it was too tight to adjust. You would think evolution would say they made it good, it would be good moving forward.
