After swapping in 4.88s, my speedometer was off something horrible. After talking with a tuner, I was left with the programmer only option. Being as my truck is an 09, Hypertech was the only option. Yeah, I'm not paying roughly $400 to fix my speedo without any other benefits.

I knew that there had to be a cheaper way. Lutz Auto has entered the chat. For the low price of $118.95 and after a little math, my speedometer is now calibrated. I know this part will work on a Gen 1 and a Gen 2 Tacoma as I have tried it on the ones I own. Hit the link below if you want.

Nope, not at all. Simply unplug the sensor and plug this in between the harness and sensor. I have it zip tied back the harness on my t-case for now. It comes with very detailed instructions for both the install and adjustment/calibration.

I assume MT as all 2nd gen ATs & 11+ MTs do not use a vehicle speed sensor but instead use the rear wheel speed sensors via the ABS Module (Skid Control ECU) so this wouldn't work on those.

    Both are manual transmission.

With the ScanGauge II, you can go into the advanced settings and fine- tune the MPH reading by adjusting it as a percentage. The only drawback is that you’ll then need to glance at the ScanGauge instead of your cluster for an accurate speed reading, but if you mount it in a convenient spot, it’s really not a big deal.

For example, I’m running street tires on my Tacoma and set my ScanGauge to -8%, which makes 70 MPH on the cluster equal about 65 MPH.
