Hi all, running into an issue where reverse isn't 'engaging'. I can shift into R, the truck feels like it has shifted, however when I take my foot off the brake and give it some gas, the RPMs increase as it should, but truck doesn't go. It will finally after about 30-60 seconds. Ni issues when I'm making multiple short stops, but if it's been sitting for a couple hours +, it does. Any ideas?

Possibly low on ATF or the pump/solenoid going bad. Double check the NSS too

    Agree with 02hilux

    check T fluid 1st

    as far as the problem
    Could be “fairly” simple
    Binding shifter cable/solenoid
    Could be severe
Shift drum/basket is worn from years of shifting with gear/column shifter

    my DD did the same
Could move gear lvr to R or D
And car would just rev like in N without any movement
    Also was intermittent
After the 3rd time of getting stranded….

Had to have tranny Remanufactured $3k
The shop owner showed me the wear marks on the drum…..was obvious wear
    225k miles

    since RM’d tranny….Zero issues 245k now
