Do it. First time I've stumbled into a 3rd gen thread and actually agreed with something. If you want the ultimate setup, 1GR and 3rd gen 6spd manual. Bam.

How bout an LS swap, seems like there is a lot of room in the engine bay?

JKN, but seems LS swaps pop up everywhere.

    Always changing
I was just thinking about this today. Decided to throw it in google and a TW thread was the first thing that popped up.

Glad I’m not the only one who’s thought about this! Even if it’s 8 years later.

I work on a friend’s 15 MT and every time I drive it I love the way that 4.0 pulls through the RPM range. Yes, I could try and find a clean 2G but they’re becoming very scarce in good condition. And I’d want a 15 MT. So I started thinking about a 4.0 swap. He’s coming in tomorrow for some UCA’s, so I plan on spending some time comparing the two.

Why? Because I love the idea, and I love the 4.0. And I’ve done enough to mine now (and taken enough trips) that I’m attached to it. Just not the 3.5.

We’ll see what happens. But I think it’s a cool idea, even if it never comes to fruition, and that’s what it’s all about with these trucks.

Awesome idea OP, that’s why I love this forum.

Edit: I did get to drive my first 4G MT the other day. I admit it was pretty impressive. Pulled great through all the gears and super smooth.

And here I thought I was crazy for searching 4th gen 2.4 motors for sale...

If the 3.5 ever goes in my truck I'll probably pull a junkyard 5vz-fe, do a megasquirt ecu and drive (very slowly) into the apocalyptic wasteland after pulling all the christmas tree warning lightbulbs in the dash.
