I think I'll keep my less than 100K Gen 2, and change the plugs myself at 200K... if they need it.

    Nice looking Tacoma.
Why is it so much to change the plugs?

Good morning. Busy day yesterday. Going to bad up some of the smaller debris from the shed demolition and put it out on the trash tomorrow. We start to bag the rest of it on Sunday.

    We’d all like to know.

    Inflation?
Because they can charge that much?
Because they “are hard to get to”?

I have sorta heard them all.

The first private shop I called was marking the $15 plugs up to $55 each. Labor was just over $450.

I was shocked it was MORE than the dealer.

New mattress for a downstairs guest room coming today. They'll take/trash the old one, too. I thought we might move our bedroom downstairs. We might try it out first. It would be less stairs to deal with every day. Wife has knee surgery coming up soon, so totally her decision. Either way is ok with me. I know several people who have made the same move, later in life. They all say it was a good move.

Just shy of 10 years ago there was a skid steer with shears on the neighbors property. I flagged him down asked if he'd come visit me. Couple hours later he pulled in and made quick work of the cedar trees we had left. $200.

    Happy Wednesday Porch Folks.

Made the move to a downsized single story house 23 years ago. Best move we ever made. I had a knee replacement and the Missus has back issues which would have a put a damper on her using the steps. We have a basement and on the occasional trip down it's 17 steps down :) but alas it's also 17 steps back up :(. Life is nice without having to navigate steps all the time .

Changed the plugs in my 2007 Tacoma (2.7L) and it was an easy job as they were on the top of the engine. I only have 21K on my 2021 so I probably have a few more miles to go before they need replacing. Oil gets changed at approximately every 5K so with the little it is driven it is not a major issue. Used to do all the work on my Tacoma and the Missus cars but now it goes to the shop as the old body ain't what it used to be with getting up and down and crawling underneath. Still change the air and cabin filters :D.

Have a good day all and enjoy whatever project you are doing.

Finally had a mechanic find out the driveability issues I've been having with 2002 Tacoma pre runner . My truck was been misfiring and not running right

The mechanic called me yesterday to tell me the aftermarket Piggy back controller /ECU is malfunctioning causing excessive fuel into the engine . I've been searching online for a new ECU / Piggy back controller to replace the old one which is no longer available !!!!!!

The ECU /piggy back controller was needed as I've got a supercharger on my 4cyl

I'm going to change my signature to:

"I don't own automotive tools, I don't own a lift, I don't own jackstands, I don't have a level surface to park a Tacoma, and I do not have the prowess to work on my Tacoma nor do I. If you want to work on my Tacoma, I will happily pay you a fair wage."

Yeah, then there's gapping, there's having a level surface to work on, having tools, having something to stand on, having the knowledge and prowess. I have none of these things. I also wish I had spare time. Between building a model railroad, working on R/C projects, working on a spare bedroom, cooking, cleaning, auto repair is right at the bottom of my list of things I *want* to or *can* do. :)

I do my repairs on a gravel drive with inexpensive tools because I don't have the thousands to fork over to a mechanic.. It just takes a while- but all we have is time?!
