I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
There is a new camper hitting the market. Many of you know the failed Vagabond Outdoors company. Well I stepped in to help those that they screwed over get a camper and it did not work out with the patent holder of their designs that's all I can say, So I cut all ties with him and developed my own camper. The BAMF rambler is like no other camper out today. Full aluminum hard side tent construction not cheap composite sides, they are fully framed with 1" 6061 tubing skinned with aluminum sheet. Electric linear actuators to lift and lower the tent not struggling with tent fabric everything folds up nice and tight with a flick of the remote.

I'm the only company that I know of offering a built in auto system for those that like tunes while sleeping. Or just rocking out with your CO*K out we don't judge.

4 Solid vinyl windows standard that are bolted on two on the sides and one at each end of the camper. looking into the cost of having zippered windows with built in shades as an option as well.

The lower section slides down. So fold and slide.

The hard side walls, the 40" tall walls give so much more room. Sit up fully no wedge in your face when sitting in bed. I should have power to this one this weekend going to do some load testing to see how much weight can be left on the roof for quick road trip stops. No one wants to unload the whole roof rack if your just stopping to catch some shut eye on a long trip. The aucators combined, have about 700lbs of force so it should be good for lifting gear on the roof rack as well.

This looks like a promising design. Will the side panels open up? Will make loading and retrieving things inside the bed easier. Also creates that open air nature feeling and less of the "camper van/in a tin can" feeling.

Hey Jerry, excited to see you moving along with this. I’m still in Drifter #11 that you mostly made and been thinking about switching it up to this new design.

A couple of thoughts since I’ve watched since the beginnings of the modern topper campers (GFC and Vagabond were first, then SuperPacific and then countless others now all with flaws):

    • I’d recommend not offering a mattress. Simpler for you as a business and most people end up replacing it with their favorite anyway (Exped Megamat LW and the Hest are the most upgraded to for Drifter owners)
    • The big benefit of rigid aluminum walls makes me question vinyl windows - especially if they don’t open. I don’t mind the current tent but having airflow is key. Is there clearance/space to cut the hole and offer an upgrade (or DIY after) to use one of the various off the shelf windows/sliders available?
    • the clamps suck. My drifter constantly shifts forward. On a short bed truck, the standard GCI G-133 or whatever clamps that utilize the bed accessory rail don’t put enough pressure or friction on the drifter to keep it in place. I don’t even wheel, bro, I just occasionally go on washboard dirt roads and it moves.

The mattress could defiantly be removed and knock off like $150 bucks for sure. I never really thought about that as an option to be honest.

Yeah for sure, the walls are 1" thick so plenty of windows can fit in there I've seen a lot of RV windows that will fit in there. I will have mutable tent window options down the road, I personally want a down folding windoor on mine so I have have a window with a table when open. I could even leave the tent panels solid for the people that want to DIY windows into them.

Also the front and back walls slide up, so with a screen full front to back air flow is possible.

The front wall of the Rambler has locations for vehicle specific front rail mounting. Connected to three rails will keep them in place no camper shell clamps will be used. Hoping to keep them in place on the worst roads. We will be putting one through hell this winter down in Baja on a Raptor.
