Currently got MBRP cat back, never was too bad w droning etc have a nice sound, problem is after a year it sounds dull and raspy (not in a growl or good way) Not sure if this is just the reaction of the T409 steel with the heat for prolonged use or what but it sounds like shit. Also isn't loud anymore either. Thinking of upgrading to a Borla S exhaust, or Carven. Just wanted opinions between the sound and how they last after that initial break in stage. Because i'll be honest the MBRP was such a let down long term. I also thought abt potentially doing their upgraded dual exhaust race profile as the car back is their "street" profile for sound. Issue is there's no difference I can see other then they added the second exit exhaust, the actually muffler and all looks the same making me think it's j some marketing BS. Just need some anecdotal pointers for a louder more beefy sounding exhaust.

The packing likely degraded. It is supposedly noted that there are quality differences out there for packing.

I really enjoy the used Pro exhaust that I picked up, esp with the axle dump. It is believe that the muffler comes from Borla, so that might be a great route to go with yours.

When you saying packing degraded what does that mean tho? that might be a dumb question but that's a new term to me lol. And def appreciate the input Borla is the one i've heard the most rep about so might be the move.

if it has fiberglassn packing inside the fiberglass can melt and break down over time. some companies use packing made of ceramic. others like magnaflow use stainless steel wool. that being said i was under the impression those mbrps where a chambered design without packing.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if MBRP is the baseline for "sounds good" (or at least used to), any other option you go is a solid improvement. I'm partial to the simple PRO exhaust sound, as most exhausts make these v6's sound like angry minivans. The PRO exhaust and even the Borla exhausts would probably be a downgrade in "loudness" compared to your current, but either would be a solid improvement in tone/drone. There's a few different Borla options though, so you find a certain muffler option to be louder if thats what you're after.
