Those sliders don’t do anything to change audio volume at all from CarPlay for me. 0-10 doesn’t matter, same audio volume on everything, music loud, directions and calls quiet

And I can’t adjust the sound mixing scale. Dunno why, but it’s not adjustable

So how are you guys liking the Joying unit? I can't decide if its worth the money because a volume knob is a MUST for me, cuz my early gen2 doesn't have SWC. And of course the only joying with a knob is over $500. But i want a big screen that still looks the part in the dash, and its the best looking one on the market currently. Something about the normal dual din radios just look strange to me in the tacoma, something about the large trim surround. But I keep hearing about reliability issues and non existent customer service with the Joying. Are these things actually trash??? Like even in this thread I see ppl posting about dongles smoking, camera not working, sound issues, connectivity issues, having to constantly reset the unit, and elsewhere even screen failures. But at the same time people seem to rave about them. Idk if they're just have Stockholm syndrome and these are trash or if they're actually pretty decent. I'd just hate to drop $500 on this for it to constantly give me issues or worse something like screen failure. I'm not an audiophile or into jail breaking it and messing with it. Literally all I want is a reliable auto connecting radio with good sounding music, basic navigation, and ability to work with the master tailgater reverse camera i just bought (yellow RCA). Is this that? or should i keep looking or just buy a normal small (ugly) dual din radio that i know is reliable for half the cost?

I didn't end up going with a Joying radio myself, but I did the get the Joying SWC (fits in the little cupholder perfect). Took some time to get used to the knob being down low, but it's second nature now. However if your truck doesn't have the small cupholder like mine, it's too small to fit in one of the others without wobbling around.

I wasn't sold on the Joying unit, the specs seemed pretty underwhelming for the price. Ended up getting a generic android unit from aliexpress with the 8 core 7862, has wireless (and wired) android auto/carplay. Only annoying quirk it has is, sometimes it pops when ending a call, and an annoying chinese ringtone when a call comes through, haven't been bothered to change it yet though!

Will say, I didn't have the best experience, seller sent the wrong bezel, wiring and screen size! It was supposed to be a 9.5 inch, but they sent a 10.36 inch screen. Luckily the other specs were still correct.
So I ended up having to buy the correct bezel/harness from Amazon. I've got the master tailgater reverse cam installed as well.

The screen wasn't the correct size for the bezel, but I made it work with some spare cpu mounting hardware I had leftover. Sits flush on the bezel, so it actually looks really clean.

If I'd do it again, I'd fork out a little more cash for a dudu7/other reputable brand vs the no name from aliexpress. I've had this setup installed for over a year now.

I don't know if Joying ever fixed the knob but on my almost 4 year old unit the volume knob is so touchy and unpredictable that I consider it unusable. The volume will either jump screaming loud or (better when this happens) to 0.

Maybe newer generations are good but I wouldn't gamble on it without someone chiming in on their experience with a newer model.

I've had mine just over 3 years now?

It had a couple random glitches issues to start, where it would occasionally play no sound or struggle to connect with my phone, but I think that might have been user error. For the majority of the last few years, I haven't had any issues with it, maybe having to hard-restart it after freezing maybe 4-5 times total.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend my model to anyone else's.

Yours has a volume knob and it works good?

I may have to complain to Joying cause mine has sucked from day one and updates never resolved it.

Yup, mine has a volume knob.

it does have some weird sensitivity issues, but nothing like you mentioned in a post. Just will occasionally either skip a number, or switch back to the previous one if I'm only adjusting the volume up/down by 1. Aside from that, no issues. So for example, if I'm adjusting the volume from 9-10, sometimes it will go to 11, sometimes it will go to 10 then jump back to 9.

i almost exclusively use it in CarPlay though, if that makes a difference

I just installed the newest 9" Android 13 with knob and so far it does not seem to be overly sensitive.
It has only been a couple of days but so far so good.

Ah that’s really disappointing to hear. It’s the only 9in one I’ve found that actually looks good

My volume knob just stopped working so I came to check this thread... and see complaints about the volume knob.

    Well fuck.
