4.0 V6, every 5K. Just let the maintenance reminder light tell me. I do an oil change on 5’s and 0’s on the odometer.

I do 10K changes with Mobile 1 full synth 5W-30. Blackstone tells me I still have some miles at 10K but why push it.

Before the :crapstorm:flys, I’ve been doing this for close to 200K miles between my ‘07 and ‘15 without any issues.

For the 1st 9 years I owned my Tacoma I drove about 20,000 miles/year. I did 10,000 mile oil changes up to about 180,000 miles. In the last 8 years I don't drive it as much and much more of those miles are city driving. I've done 5000 mile changes for the last 70,000 miles. I'm just under 260,000 and I've never added oil between oil changes. Note; this is with full synthetic oil. If someone uses conventional oil then I would change it more often.

It's not just miles, time is important too. For me it's been roughly every 6 months regardless of 10,000 mile oil changes or 5000 miles. If you don't put a lot of miles on one it needs to be done at least once/year even if it's less than 5000 miles.

Since you posted in the off-topic section, I assume you're open-minded. I run an "open-loop" oil system fed from an IBC pallet container. The pallet gets replaced once a month. This way the 2GR-FKS gets fresh oil all the time, rendering the troublesome cartridge filter unnecessary.

I'll go out on a limb and say that using Amsoil full synthetic for the last 25+ years on many different vehicles (gas, diesel, motorcycles), I generally change oil and filter at 10,000 mile intervals [motorcycles was a more frequent change schedule due to much small oil capacity]. To date, none of the vehicles I had owned have had any issues. I won't suggest you adopt this schedule, as many will prefer the 3000 - 5000 mile interval that has been recommended by vehicle and oil manufactures for decades. This very topic is one of the most volitile on every single vehicle related internet forum in the solar system. Right up there with "Which brand of oil/filter is best?" :boink::argue::rolleyes:

That tote is empty or that Tacoma has upgraded leaf springs.

Upgraded leaf springs, upgraded bumpstops, and Mexico-spec full-synthetic blinker fluid for better cooling.
